There’s no denying the ’57 Ferrari Testarossa was one of the sexiest cars ever designed. As a kid I was obsessed with this car and had no fewer than 5 die-cast models of it placed — for some reason — in strategic locations around my room. But I’ve never seen it presented quite so nicely as in this photo set on Luxist. Designed by Carrozzeria Scaglietti for Enzo Ferrari, the iconic car dominated Le Mans in the late 50’s and early 60’s. One of these sold last year for nearly $11M and this one — which is set for auction — is expected to exceed that. Now I don’t feel so bad about lusting after Herman Miller pieces.

These tiny doors are so rare nowadays, I went to a car show over the weekend and practically every door was the size of my girlfriend.
    Beautiful car though…

Scott: The 57’/58′ pontoon-fendered Scagiletti designed Testa-Rossa is a cornerstone car that started the Ferrari mystique. The ‘lust facter’ was multiplied exponentially by the glorious sound, the sensuous lines, and the amazing performance! The TR, along with it’s civilized derivitive, the 3-liter GTO are amongst a few Ferraris that perpetuated the legend. The others would be the beautiful P3/P4 330’s, and the last incantation ; the marvelous purpose built IMSA P333 prototype. Who can forget 1996 at Daytona when a young Italian racer named Max Papis brought himself and the P333 into instant historical glory in that best of all televised Daytonas! No one screams into the pits at 196 mph like ‘Mad-Maxx’ did in that final hour. This will be a race that cements Ferraris place in the annuls of world class road racing.
