Mike Bayne creates striking realist paintings that celebrate the mundane. Can’t help but be reminded of William Eggelston’s work, which while photographic, maintains a sort of painterly style.

So good. If these were “just” photographs they’d be beautiful, but oil paintings? Oh my.
Wow. These are phenomenal.
Love the imagery, he’s captured middle America perfectly on canvas. If you hadn’t mentioned these were paintings, I would have had no idea.
Couldn’t he have just saved time and taken a photo? 😉
I’m not really sure what to think. A bunch of them are like 5×5 or 6×6 inches, thats really hard to believe.
The “PG Sports” piece is the only one I could tell was a painting no matter how hard I look at the others.
It’s hard to believe these are all painting…
I’d like to see them in person
unless I am mistaken, that’s Canada, not middle america. Almost a depressing quality in the air. amazing. How does that dude paint so small and jam all that detail in there. Genius!
These have an eerie quietness to them..
Just looking at the rest of his portfolio, and I can’t believe those aren’t photographs. How is that possible…?
wait! What! these are actually paintings! incredible. Even if they were only photos I’d still like them.
i am blown away at this level of detail. mind-boggling to think about how he would accomplish these pieces.
I love these pictures! The images themselves are beautiful – and the fact they are paintings is just amazing! Reminds me VERY much of George Shaw and Frank Breuer.
Either way, he definitely understands lighting
