Canon 5D MKII capturing the NYC 4th show by Mike Kobal (24-70mm at 2.8 at ISO 2000). Once again, the MKII delivers amazing video quality. Still waiting for Nikon’s answer before I take the plunge though. There are some more 5D MKII video examples over at Kobal’s Blog.
By the way, did anybody else happen to catch the San Francisco fireworks “show”? This puts it to shame and then some. I’ve seen better displays at Dolores Park (before they started parking that mobile command station RV out there and ruining it for everyone).
That NYC show puts Seattles to shame easily.
The 5D does kick butt! I just did a coffee roasting video with my 5D, check it out. http://www.vimeo.com/5430780
The fireworks video was super nice.
I’ve seriously been losing sleep on whether to buy this camera or not. You finding examples of the cool ass videos is going to send me over the edge. I will soon be buying this camera. And you will have done all the marketing.
The 5D MarkII is one bad mamma jamma.
Being a non-photography buff, my first reaction to this post was “Holy shit! Fireworks in the fifth dimension?!? ”
I was disappointed.

lol @ WH!!
Me too.
That looks like a good camera, I can see why you’d be contemplating get one. But by the same token, what happens when you buy it and the next day Nikon releases a better one.
As for the fireworks, we do have the biggest fireworks display in the country. Though this year was lame for the simple reason that it was only on the hudson for the west siders and new jersey to enjoy.
