Abbey Road Studios

Found a few great shots of Abbey Road Studios, the legendary London studios where the Beatles recorded almost all of their albums. I particularly love that first one which is apparently a shot of the control room in Studio Three as it looked during the 70’s. I am betting it’s considerably more boring now. Studio One (second shot) on the other hand, hasn’t changed at all.

Ha, that control room looks like a cross between the Sleeper house and NORAD. Nice find.

I love how Scott sometimes congratulates himself. Makes him look more human.

Or maybe somebody didn’t log off, I dunno 😀

Anyway nice pictures, is there any more from the set?

    NEOKEITARO-
ha, nice… Scott is a very common name in the united states. If you click the name in the other “scott’s” comment you will see it links to another site. You’ll always know my comments because the color bar to the left is a different color.

I should probably update the comments system so people can’t use post author names…

    Scott-
Hrm, right… Now I feel completely stupid not having thought of that, especially since I KNOW that admin posts are green… But I’ve read this blog for so long, now I got the association Scott=Scott Hansen. Not only on this blog, mind you!

    Anyway, nice post 🙂

Strangely though, contrary to what i’d have thought, the Beatles said that the Abbey Rd studios in their time anyway had no atmosphere of their own, white peeling walls, not actually inspiring at all & they had to bring all the ‘atmosphere’ with them

  6. Sorry to cause a bit a confusion here. I’ll use a nickname in the future… good idea to block author names.

    Hi all,

I feel extremely privileged to tell you that I have the out-of-this-world opportunity of being INSIDE Abbey Road Studios two months ago, around mid-September, thanks to my girlfriend’s boss and some contacts made through EMI company.

It was a huge experience; in fact, I even got the chance to play Lady Madonna’s piano. It’s just an old Steinway vertical piano, sitting on a corridor alone, but still tuned. It was overwhelming.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get to the Studio Three control room since it was busy at that time, so I can’t tell how it looks like now, but all in all I was able to visit all other studios and mixing/mastering rooms. Tremendous.

As you may know, indoor photos are not permitted for visitors, so when I saw your photos on this post, I felt like I was almost in there again. Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Warm regards,
    Esteban Lussich

Nice shots, I never saw studio 3, but had the privilege of recording an album in studio 2 July 2,3,4 of ’08. Practically lived & ate there for 3/12 hr days, such an experience and intimidating at first. Nice staff who gave us some ARS goodies to take home to the states. Loads of pics & video from studio 2 was taken during our sessions.
After 25yrs our old band member decided to get us all back together to record this, our first ever Lp “From Austin to Abbey Road”. Best July 4th ever!
