Moog just released their Animoog synthesizer app for the iPad and it looks impressive. Get it now for 99 cents before it jumps to the regular price of $29.99. Anybody have a chance to try it out and care to share their experience in the comments?

Now to give it a proper go once I get home from work.
Thanks for the heads up! Looks like the price is 99 cents for 30 days too.

It’s an easy to approach app, and you can start making pleasing sounds immediately. There’s a lot of depth to be explored, though. Tons of knobs and things.

Playing it is like playing a Suzuki Omnichord, you can be a little loose with it.

    Hey sweet video Jaime. 🙂

  6. I bought this the other day and it is a pretty cool app. $1 made it a no-brainer, but I wouldn’t pay $30. Great sound, lots of features, but it needs some updates. A universal reset would be nice since trying to return all the knobs to default takes forever.

This app sounds incredible. In fact it sounds as if the MOOG team are big Tycho fans… thought I heard a few of Tycho’s signature sounds in the presets.

This is the first iPad app I’ve seen that makes me want an iPad…

  9. Buyin and Tryin the MOMENT I get home…I knew I shouldn’t have left my iPad at home today. Thanks for sharing Jon!

It’s fantastic. The looper on it is especially good.

I will buy an iPad just for this app!

Played with it for an hour the first time i opened it. Great way to intuitively experiment, save your ideas as .wavs, and dump into an DAW. Simple.

Animoog app plug. Playlist 13 filled with Moogfest attendees. Little Dragon performing at Moogfest. Surprise Tycho announcement to come???

  14. Reinier says:

I bought the App without having an iPad.

The one thing I am trying to figure out – and that I don’t think is possible – is saving the “loops” that you basically create. When you record, you can overdub multiple times within that loop, and I think the only way to get it out is to be hooked up to something you can record in.

That recording/looping feature is really one of the coolest aspects if you’re just trying to make something to reuse as a loop in a recording program. It is definitely just as useful as a playable instrument, but I’ve liked the looping so far.

lol reinier, so did I. I don’t have an ipad but I might eventually, and 99 cents was hard to pass up. I would be annoyed paying $30 for this if and when I get an ipad.

definitely the best synth for an iPad
