Just installed the new Vimeo app for iPhone (iPad and Android versions are apparently in development). Very impressive stuff, I have a feeling this will have me doing more video work on my iPhone. Of course, that wouldn’t be hard considering I never use the video functionality. It’s strange, when I bought the phone I justified it to some degree by telling myself “you’ll have an HD video camera in you pocket”. I then proceeded to never use it.

How much do you use your phone for video? Ever done any creative projects with it?

The Tycho San Francisco show is fast approaching and we’ve got some tickets and posters to give away. The first two winners picked will get a copy of the ISO50 Studio Edition print from the show along with two tickets. One runner-up will get two tickets.

On a side note, I’ve completely re-worked the live show — stripped everything down and started from scratch including the visuals. I’ll also be playing most of the (now almost completed) new album. This should be an interesting one.

An exhibition of large scale drawings and oil paintings at Prism Gallery, Los Angeles from December 16, 2010 – February 28, 2011. The landscape topographies were derived from graph data (displayed as printed mirrors on accompanying plinths), modeled in 3D and then oil paintings created from those 3D renders. This is about as good as it gets for me. This incredible structure is located in Gudbrandsjuvet, Norway and was designed by Jensen & Skodvin Architects. Luckily for us it’s a hotel and not a private residence, so there’s actually some outside chance you might be able to bask in it’s modern interior glory.

Recto|Verso has a great piece up entitled Radical Newspapers and ‘The Graphic Design of Urgency’. F.A. Bernett Books (who’s staff runs the Recto|Verso blog) came into possession a collection of 184 issues of Mid-century leftist literature spanning seven decades and have posted some choice specimens. The collection is apparently for sale; any interested parties can get in touch at the site.

I learned of Cole Rise via his Instagram (@colerise – some great stuff in there too) and was immediately stricken with the beauty or his photography work. But when I saw his full portfolio I was completely blown away. I’d compare his style to maybe a little more processed version of Tim Navis, skewed more towards landscapes. Really beautiful stuff.

Las Vegas Studio: Images from the Archives of Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown, published by Scheidegger & Spiess, is a collection of images from architects Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown, and Steven Izenour’s field research in Las Vegas during the early 1970’s. The research was for their own book, the classic Learning from Las Vegas, which explored postmodernism in architecture and urban planning, using Las Vegas as an example.

Beautiful photography and an even better layout; amazing stuff. Stylepark has a great review of the book with some nice shots.
