When I’m not injured or stuck in a moving vehicle on tour, my favorite thing in the world is cycling. Unfortunately the equipment and attire associated with the sport often run counter to my taste as a designer. So I was pretty excited to see this set by Bernard; definitely the first time I’ve ever been truly impressed by the design of a jersey / shorts (of course, BMC make some very nice looking frames, but they can be very hit and miss). But, as is always the case with anything designed well, it’s sold out and you can’t have it. Hopefully Bernard gets off his ass and prints some more because summer is almost over and my knee is feeling pretty good.

With the London 2012 games (along with their controversial branding) in full swing I thought I’d revisit one of my favorite — Olympic or otherwise — branding campaigns ever: that which was created for the 1968 Mexico Olympics. Graphic Ambient has some beautiful images of the work in the real world, some of which I’d never seen before. I definitely have to say that I prefer Otl Aicher’s work for the 72 Munich games; but this has it’s own thing going on and after all it did come first! I’ve been on the road for the Tycho Summer Tour for the past few weeks and it’s been a great trip. Met a lot of great people and played for some incredible audiences. We’ve finally reached the East Coast (Portland, ME show tonight!) and we’ll end up in NYC for the Webster Hall show this Saturday, July 14th. I’ve never been to Webster Hall but I’ve heard great things so really excited for this one. If you caught the last couple shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg I’ve got some new stuff lined up for this one. New visuals, new lighting, and a new song. Can’t wait to bring it all to Webster; from the pictures I saw it looks like a great space.

Tomorrow we’ll also be playing a late-night (2:45-4am) set at Camp Bisco; really looking forward to that one.

Tycho is on the road and we’ve still got plenty of dates coming up. Last night was Chicago’s Lincoln Hall — thanks by the way to everyone there, we had an incredible time. Tonight we’ll be playing one of our favorite venues, The Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, MI. This will be our second time playing the Crofoot and if last time was any indication, this should be something special.

I just finished up programming the lighting on a new rig we had made (an Arduino-controlled LED array designed by Michael Potvin. We debuted the system in Chicago last night and everything seemed to work well. Should look really cool tonight with the Crofoot’s already amazing lighting system. We also built a custom 20ft. screen for this tour so all visual elements should be really solid tonight. If you aren’t anywhere near Pontiac, we still have a string of dates coming up, hopefully one in your town:

After a short break I’m on the road again, this time we’re out for a 4 week run through the US and Canada – see all dates here. The new visuals are coming along nicely and a lot of it will be included in the upcoming shows.

Been a while since I posted here I know, been slammed with work lately. Just finished up a couple remixes (details TBA) and my first outside design gig in years (album cover / poster art). All that stuff and some more will start to see the light of day later this year I’d imagine. Planning on finishing up the next couple tours then heading back to the studio to get the next Tycho release started.
