Since Fall is right around the corner, i’ve kept my eye open for an all around shoe that will last me a long time and that i can wear with anything. My friend Ryan Elliott sold me on Common Project shoes, i’ve seen them before but didn’t know much about them. They have no branding and are all leather and a very simple design, i especially love the stamped faded gold serial number on each shoe. For now, they’re a little over my price range but i’ll start saving my pennies.

Common Project Shoes
Sebastien Tellier
You may know Tellier from the Lost In Translation soundtrack or his CD being the only album available to purchase at every American Apparel retailer which probably are the 2 best ways(soundtracks and lifestyle shops) to get a record heard these days. If you haven’t already take a moment and at least listen to La Ritournelle, the first half is early Coldplay-ish but the second half when he starts singing i think of it being one of the best licensable tracks out there if edited right to video.
Ryan Fitzgerald Photography
Ryan Fitzgerald who is half of Broker/Dealer, has some wonderful overhead shot photography and i think most of them are in and around San Francisco, I was grabbed in by his shot of that crow. Here at Ryan’s site eyewitnessphoto where you can view the the photos larger.
Pocket Protectors
Go ahead and laugh but these dress shirt saving vinyl badges at one time we’re great because advertising designers could have that extra chance to put their logo somewhere in a creative way. I love the layout on these, there is a whole huge collection here.
Michael Doyle – Solvent Flyer
Our friend over at Burnlab did this flyer a few years back, still to this day it might the best flyer to come out of Michigan. Michael Doyle runs an experienced music/culture blog called BURNLAB.
AM Gold+Soft Rock+Slow Jams – Part. I
I know Beamer has a large vinyl collection and Scott here and there has sent me some Cream songs and they should be able to add to series with some depth. So, i thought adding some good old AM Gold in the mix since if you dig deep enough you can find great artwork from singles and 7 inches like this pre-70’s single of The Moody Blues.
1930s Swiss Travel Brochures
Found a few old Swiss travel brochures via travelbrochuregraphics.
Benoit Pioulard
If you haven’t noticed by now i’m a huge fan of Benoit Pioulard, he is a Portland based folk musician. He has his next album coming out on Kranky October 14th which will include this brand new single “Brown Bess” for free for us to share. As for other talents he has a few things flying under the radar a very simple but effective website pioulard.com where if you catch him at the right time of year you can buy limited handmade versions of his albums and look thru his polariod pictures.
Canning+LCD+Stereolab+Walkmen
Here are a few new tracks a little more from the indie rock end. Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning whole LP is superb, a great follow up to Kevin Drew’s LP. Also, new tracks grabbed from the B-sides and demos of LCD Soundsystem, a forthcoming Stereolab full length single and the highly anticipated Walkmen album is finally out.
World’s Largest Record Collection
The Archive from Sean Dunne on Vimeo.
Paul Mawhinney is the owner of the world’s largest vinyl record collection, if you’re a music fan of some sort i can’t see how this short documentary won’t touching you in some way.
