18KAffair+John Maus+H. Williams+Ducktails

18 Carat Affair’s Bitter Turns To Sugar is a short serenade that made me question who might be the most unique lo-fi musician these days, he has this authentic sincere haunting touch, grab this track for free.

I had to hold myself back from posting more than just one song from John Maus’ We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves album, soo many great songs on this album, loving the melody on this one, pick it up if you can.

I will keep posting Hype Williams on ISO50 until he hits 50k fans on facebook which I hope is never but if it helps him out then I hope it does happen. Part of me hears a Kraftwerk sample, its very short, whatever its reused perfectly.

Ducktails has a new EP Killin’ The Vibe, here’s the new single that features Panda Bear.

Shlohmo+Mux Mool+Max Tundra+Caribou

What a trip this remix is from Shlohmo of Burial, its soo delicate and dark, its like he tippy toed around being completely careful of the original like a art handler at Christie’s.

Max Tundra and Mux Mool give us another reason to play out two of the most crowd pleasing hits from the 20th Century.

Caribou goes minimalist on his Radiohead remix, sound like he’s been listening to some Raster-Noton.

Ricky Allman Painting / Drawing

I am in awe over the detail in Ricky Allman’s work, makes me want to go pick up some oils and canvas.

Aaron Ruell Photography

I’m a fan of Aaron Ruell’s vision, he fakes retro in a very plastic & clean way. Some of his best work with Napoleon Dynamite I think we’ve overlooked since we’ve seen it soo many times in ads but after looking at them closely again i’m amazed at how well the color schemes are put together.

Araabmuzik mixtape

You may have heard the buzz about Araabmuzik, I guess he’s just a kid from Harlem that posted himself playing on the MPC on youtube and grabbed the attention on some Top 40 rappers. I personally just like to watch him play the hi-hats for 7 minutes but I thought i’d share this mixtape with you just as a change of pace on the blog, #thuggish_mondays.

Stream in full: The Horrors – Skying

I’ve been waiting for this new Horrors album all year and now its available to listen to all the way thru, just on track one right now I hope others have been waiting and are excited about this as well, its out on XL on August 9th.

Homework+18kt Affair+Biosphere+D. Klag

Slowly this Homework is becoming my summer house jam, once it gets going its hard not to dance in your seat.

Are you sick of the average sounding vocals of summer time or want a different take on the darker side of that VHS to tape 80s sound? 18 Carat Affair is your go to then.

Biosphere is back with another lush album, I keep forgetting how big of an influence he has been on my taste for ambient music over the years. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I’ve been meaning to try and catch Daniel Klag live in Brooklyn, he has an interesting flow and growth to his tracks, i’m always a sucker for that low hum.

Deepchord+S. Shores+M. Bubbles+Gouache

Deepchord has been my obsession since 2002, I remember grabbing up the earlier EPs at Record Time(RIP) in Detroit. This new LP Hash-Bar Loops is full of darkness or people might find the material too muddy for their taste if your new to them but if you let the track Balm ride out I have a feeling you’ll find complete content from the sound.

Cascine has been the go to for music that sounds like new R+B floating up into the sky, makes those Pure Moods compilations sound like someone took a dump on the beach then scooped it up and smashed it into a jewel case and packaged it for moms at Kmart, thanks for being there Cascine or we’d be stuck with the wrong emotional music.

Mike Bubbles is for everyone that wishes that Sonic The Hedgehog and Toejam & Earl music was still being made in 2011 for video games, which is me **gets in line to buy Mike Bubbles**.

Gouache follows the footsteps of Moths who has followed the footsteps of Pogo who has followed the footsteps of Gold Panda who has followed the footsteps of The Field who all have been making stuttering lovely loops over a 4/4 beat sound great and also have brought a lot of new electronic music listeners so here’s a virtual handshake and congrats, you guys do good things.

XenoOaklander+Obin+ActiveChild+J.Muller

I have never passed up a Xeno & Oaklander show, their presence on stage might be too cold and minimalistic for some(which kind of makes me glad) but the care and dedication to a specific sound puts them into a breed of their own.

André Obin drove up from Boston to play in Manhattan a few nights back so I went with my sister. His live set sits in this spot where you feel like he could take the place of Underworld or Justus Köhncke as a huge EU festival act but all the lights and fireworks are stripped away and he’s just there with his gear and you feel like your at this personal show in his room, really nice full arpeggios, intimate breakdowns and far from trendy.

Adult Swim has done it again and put together a quality compilation, this time by releasing a track at a time of popular acts like Best Coast, How To Dress Well, etc to kick it off. Fader today leaked the Active Child song which i’ve been waiting for, the video is below.

So I read on Altered Zone today about Jürgen Müller which is a musician that only pressed a few copies of his album about 30+ years ago and handed them out to friends during a time that he was on the seas working. Funny enough this music is dreamy and people are really into it right now and more importantly I hope we find more music like this.

HTRK+Opera M Steel+S Metals+Stop M Me

If you love dark pop and want a mature album then September you’ll have the strongest record in the pack from HTRK that we’ve heard in quite sometime. I mean matching this up with anything goth or dark that came out this winter or the trendy stuff that makes no sense as summer albums(new goth and summer doesn’t mix well in my opinion) just can’t hold up next to this.

I heard Opera Multi Steel a few weeks ago at a Wierd label showcase, completely floored me, I can’t believe i’m 25 years late to the party.

Synth pop duos are popping up daily and they always will, we just need to filter thru them well and support the good ones so they keep making more music, Soft Metals have my full support after I heard Psychic Driving. One thing I look for is the perfect marriage of the vox and its volume and how it sits with the synths and if they play together well partnered up and its gorgeous here.

I’ve been hesitating for no reason other than being scared that his other remixes aren’t going to be as good as this one but I am in love with this Stopmakingme remix and I want to hear more, I just haven’t gotten around to it since i’m soo satisfied with hearing this one on loop.
