C. Truise+N. Patrol+T. Thaemlitz+L. Radio

The single is out for Com Truise’s debut album Galactic Melt, this release is going to be soo lush and enjoyable I can’t wait to share more of it with you all. Seth is working on a shirt for the image above and a large sticker set, should be a gorgeous project.

I’ve realized Nacho Patrol is what i’d want to DJ all night if I could keep a dancefloor with just tune after tune of this, a big sweatbox of a slow heavy kick and wandering synths.

Terre Thaemlitz or DJ Sprinkles has some of the most unique releases when it comes to someone that DJs, haunting gentle releases on muted notes, too good.

This new goth train people are jumping on is very trendy only but there are hints of hope, the only way I see it working out is if people commit a 10+ year career to a project, this Lake Radio track has that feel if they stick to this sound it could be a lovely lovely group, I hope to hear more soon.

Dieter Rams / Vitsoe 50th Anniv. in NY

When Dieter Ram’s was 28 he designed the 606 Universal Shelving System aka the 60’s 606. Today Vitsoe a furniture design company that has a shop in Manhattan is celebrating this remarkable shelving by hosting Dieter at their shop today. If you get a chance please stop there is a special treat in which the front half of the shop is set up entirely with vintage systems from the 60’s, on loan from Dietrich Lubs(Dieter Rams colleague) himself.

John Lamonica+J. Lynch+Russom+Mountains

John LaMonica put together an album that mixes and mashes together some of my favorite styles of music from early 2000s, it was best described by Boomkat in the UK as “Squarepusher being given free reign to bugger around with a Radiohead record“, download Heartling for FREE here.

The new Julian Lynch record is something i’m still digesting, one song that grabbed right away was Clay Horses, the guitars are soo full and warm like honey shining in the sun and tuned just the way i’d love to hear a clear played.

I love Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom, i’m committed to hearing everything they produce. Recently Gavin remixed former Games duo Ford & Lopatin and came out with a morphed early 90’s pulsing soundtrack to machines working with their lights blinking.

I’m not going to complain on how many Mountain bands there are, that would be stupid :). This one is for all the Steve Reich fans, I love this track **lowers himself into a volcano waving slowly in a knight suit pointing his sword into the sky**.

Bibio + Washed Out

For the Bibio fans that have been listening since the beginning I think you’ll find this new album more enjoyable than Ambivalence Avenue, I definitely do. I’m more of a Hand Cranked and Fi fan myself, Bibio fills in spots that BoC isn’t offering lo-fi wise and also the lead off single for this release was a real curve ball, just sit with Saint Christopher 2 times thru.

New Washed Out is coming out on Sub Pop, some of you maybe asking yourself if he’s making his own melodies this time and I truly think he’s writing all of this, its a comforting beautiful result, summer jams!

C. Valley+B. Benjamin+S. Slinger+Implodes

Chad Valley makes me feel like “hey, I listen to pop music and its good pop music too”, can I say a hint of male Sade? I guess he has another EP coming out on Cascine this summer, i’ll post more when I hear it.

Any of you remember Midwest Product? well one of guys from that does Ben Benjamin now, the album is a very focused instrumental LP with an emphasis on looped melody and jumps out of the breakdowns, I found Finding the Perfect egg as a favorite.

Star Slinger reworked my favorite How To Dress Well track, gorgeous.

Dare I say i’m liking the new Implodes LP over the Grouper LPs? I don’t know but i’m definitely listening to Black Earth on repeat sometimes.

LIVE SHOW

The Field+Diskjokke+Eno+Eternal Tapestry

The Field hasn’t done anything that I haven’t been into, his latest remix for Miracle is a pulsing spaced out 10+ minute cut, I wish people would come to shows that DJs would just play this.

Throwing in this Brian Eno classic, i’m sure no one will mind.

I think every time i’ve checked out Diskjokke its never been as New Age-y as this one, almost swerving into the Chariots Of Fire lane.

To be honest I checked out Eternal Tapestry because of the cover so that trick still works in the purchasing of records, glad I did though, psyched out-noodling/drone hasn’t been this good in a while.

Watson + D. Rings + Metronomy + Grouper

A huge influence and always puts me back into what mood I truly want to be in is Delsin Records, i’ve featured plenty from their catalog on the blog. Their understanding of atmosphere meets house makes me always rethink mixes/dj sets/song selections because their selections are so spot on, this Vince Watson cut is the right about of Jazz but isn’t house but its definitely electronic, in love.

I really didn’t like Diamond Rings, I heard 2 or 3 songs and it didn’t fit with me but when I heard this song yesterday it completely grabbed me, more or this. He actually sings pretty nice in this one, I like when soft amount of piano comes in.

I always check out the free mp3 iTunes is giving away, hell I need to give popular music a chance in some way. I was happy to hear some of that UK disco pop influence in this one by Metronomy, pretty solid I must say.

Misery loves company” every time I put on a Grouper song that quote pops into my head.

A taste of the new Neon Indian record, i’m definitely geeked after hearing this:

Com Truise+Matthewdavid+Starfawn+HP

As the summer becomes something that might actually finally happen the real jams start popping up. Com Truise’s LP was announced and also with that announcement came a 3 track single, download Polyhurt for free.

I’m really loving how much tape destruction shows on this new Matthewdavid record, even this ambient cut with Flying Lotus shares those small details that reveal how much care was put into this release.

I keep looking for more Starfawn whenever I get a chance, it brings me back to what got me into the more intense melodic IDM, especially enjoy the how the synths all have movement but it never becomes overwhelming.

Here’s something to set in the background and put on loop, definitely influenced by Fennesz’s Endless Summer, listening to too much Bvdub and seeing William Basinski live, the download is free and lives here.
