I have my official Spring Jam, its comes from DFA/Spectral Sound’sBenoit & Sergio, can’t stop won’t stop listening to it. A MUST HAVE.
New Junior Boys album planned for a June release, here’s our first taste, thoughts?
Jensen Sportag and Teeel both made it on Playlist 11, last week they released a remix swap, download those here. Tonight Teeel will debut his live show at Glasslands, i’ll also be djing in between sets, I hope some of the Brooklyn readers can make it.
A lot people might hear these songs and just find them more on the beautiful dark end but I hear a ton of elegance and timeless happiness that I don’t want to stop. I could have picked any 4 tracks from this compilation and had that same reaction yet the genre is hard to pinpoint for each song since post classical and modern aren’t these songs, there are more dimensions unfolding after you start having feelings for the sound. I picked tracks by Rafael Anton Irisarri, Peter Broderick, Manual, and Kyle Bobby Dunn to share with you because they almost all have this slow opening and closing feel to them that attracts me. If you pick up a copy i’d get the vinyl version, I know Ghostly will probably never repress this gorgeous gatefold 2xLP that Michael Cina did and once you hold it you’ll see why.
I wanted to share some underrated influencers to a lot of the music that I post on the blog, for more of the slow disco The Alan Parsons Project has to be something that people like Pilooski, Mark E, Lindstrom, Low Motion Disco listened to when they were kids. Mu-ziq is probably more relavent than Aphex Twin now to most of the young kids that are in love with Dubstep since he runs the Planet Mu label but Lunatic Harness should be a classic that sits next to Boards Of Canada: Music Has The Right To Children. Baby Ford has been all over the place in his career style wise when it comes to techno but never really gets the love I think he deserves, thats why he’s on this list. Souls of Mischief isn’t underrated but when was the last time you put this on?
Still looking for the photo credit, will link soon.
Let’s start from the end of a session where you listened to some good dub techno, okay its stops playing and you’re world just comes back to normal like someone stopped pushing you on the swingset and just walked away.
If you haven’t listened to much Dub Techno, don’t focus on it, do something else and keep it a volume thats quiet but where you can still hear all the pieces echoing off and dim the lights, I promise you’ll find that it sets a tone, nothing generic just a good deep slow thump of life thats whispering for you to enjoy the rest of night or early morning.
This Memoryhouse cover sounds like if they tried to redo the Twin Peaks theme song for a teen audience in 2012 if it didn’t have the beat.
You wanna hear how oceans on other planets sound? then Safehouses by Pariah shares an example that i’d hope would be the true sound for that, the magic is the underlying synth work half way thru.
Shigeto turned me onto this Mono/Poly remix of Take, sounds like what you’d listen to if you were driving to spot to mess some people up, you got an aluminum bat for some reason in the back seat , hell maybe even a bandanna on over your face because you wanted to step up a notch on the accessories tip.
Let all your worries leave your body and just do a slow bounce in your chair to this Super Cat cut.
I made a new mix for you guys to download under my alias Heathered Pearls, this will hold you off while Scott puts the finishing touches of a new playlist: Playlist 11
I wanted to describe this mix by just making up 4 new genres: Dreamfuzz / VHS Quality / Water Hypnotization / Space Synth
As always thanks for listening, this mix is probably my favorite one i’ve ever made, it nails down the definition of what I want to hear in my head all the time.

This Dunian track makes me picture a smiling person stumbling in slowmotion with their eyes hold in a dreamy state, not a care in the world, completely content, now i’m wondering what kind of person you’re imagining and if they look like the one in my head.
Don’t let the wonky intro for this Solar Bears track scare you off, its a very rewarding listen, epic echos and a sugary drive to it all.
Just a lazy day off sitting on the porch, really dry air keeping me awake, might take a nap still. Shlohmo switches it up on us with a hint of soul and its tweaked perfectly enough so you never think about how loopy it is.
Stephan Mathieu plays with tone as if you can grab a very thin strand of it out of the air and pull to no end, meanwhile as you pull the strand switches from different palette gradient colors, dangerously hypnotic.
Sometimes really simple vintage is the best way to go, feels right to start off the week with this. A beautiful getaway from it all song by Bela Tar from on Bandcamp, enjoy.
This Star Slinger track might as well be a Top 40 chart monster, it hits harder than a punch to the neck and has more soul than most of the pop songs out there right now.
I hear that Darkstar might be heading over to Warp Records, I can really appreciate a song like Dear Heartbeat, its raising the bar for bedroom producers, reminds me of a more simplified JDSY song or something tolerable from Her Space Holiday.
Moths seems to be starting off on the right foot by following the footsteps of Four Tet, Gold Panda, Seams, etc. Thanks NAVIS for the tip. Maybe he’ll sign to Moodgadget if he sees this post?
The label BPitch Control has offered some of the best 4/4 records in the past 10 years that blur the line of Club ready / Headphone music with artists like Ellen Allien, Telefon Tel Aviv, Paul Kalkbrenner and many more. With Chaim on their roster they add more of that beautiful techno to their sound kind of like one of favorites Modeselektor’sI Love You:
Anyone know who did the image above? would love to give some credit.
Had to share this, here is 5 seconds of every #1 song in chart history until 1992. I had to start with Part 2 because it started with Down Under but Part 1 is here.
