Automata Music Toy

Here’s a slightly different take on the Monome / grid sequencer idea. Automata is a fun — and actually quite nice sounding — little Flash app by Batuhan Bozkurt in the same vein as Sound Matrix. The cool thing about this one is the directional settings allowing for some pretty complex interactions between notes (click a note multiple times to set direction). Have a good weekend.

To bad there aren’t options for more than one sequence. I’m always afraid adding one will destroy the “tune”. But glad that it has a “save and load” feature, so anyone could possibly work things out for another person outgoing from a base of sounds. It’s quite handy…

Just FYI, I am pretty sure that Andre Michelle is the originator of the Sound Matrix.

Make sure to check out his AudioTool too. It is astounding what that thing can do. I saw him give a talk a few weeks ago, and he said he that it even supports MIDI controllers! How is that even possible through the browser?!
