The new Beirut has a couple gems like this one, a few of the other tracks are a bit too straight forward, makes me feel like i’m walking into a boutique in Greece that doesn’t want me in the shop because every is soo clean, still in love with all my other Beirut records, this song, and I hope he does wonderful things for a larger audience.
A great cover of Harvest Moon by duo that go by the name Poolside, Daytime Disco might start sneaking into the prep school world. #beautifully_executed
Mark McGuire will have a new LP out at the end of next month, he’s been working on it for over a year, I can’t wait to sit thru the whole thing and not touch the fast forward button.
A new one from me as Heathered Pearls, have it for free please. It’s on a hypnotic tip with some shimmering interruptions, just think of the exploration and excitement of scuba diving at night.
The poolside track is quite a gem, loved it!
That Mark McGuire track is mind blowing.
And yes… one of the best three song sets I’ve ever listened to on this blog.
lol… one of my friends says the Mark McGuire song sort of sounds like the Reading Rainbow theme song… I couldn’t stop laughing… equally mind blowing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6j8EiWIVZs&feature=player_embedded
With all seriousness, though, very good track. McGuire is a master of setting a chill, retrospective mood.
The Mark Mcguire track is great. I’m looking forward to hearing the new album. Mark is great layering different tracks to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. I am curious about how the vocals on the new album will sound and if they will be used an more of an instrument or be featured up front in the mix.
Jakub – The Heathered Pearls track reminds me of loscil. I like it. Keep up the good work.
Is Heathered Pearls entirely a solo project or do you collaborate with anyone else in writing?
I keep coming back to the Mark McGuire track. He could have extended the track with the acoustic jam for several more minutes after the electric guitar starts to fade out. His acoustic tracks from the cdr and cassette releases are solid as well.
It looks like he is pairing down his approach by making mostly shorter tracks for the new album. This approach is more deliberate I guess, but i hope we’ll still see some longer jam outs in the future too.
I picked up your new Heathered Pearls track yesterday and I’m enjoying it quite a bit. Well done.
Fantastic post, thanks!
