When I’m not injured or stuck in a moving vehicle on tour, my favorite thing in the world is cycling. Unfortunately the equipment and attire associated with the sport often run counter to my taste as a designer. So I was pretty excited to see this set by Bernard; definitely the first time I’ve ever been truly impressed by the design of a jersey / shorts (of course, BMC make some very nice looking frames, but they can be very hit and miss). But, as is always the case with anything designed well, it’s sold out and you can’t have it. Hopefully Bernard gets off his ass and prints some more because summer is almost over and my knee is feeling pretty good.
Bernard Cycling Kit

Agreed, this Bernard kit is A+
Here’s a couple more kits that are semi decent design:

And of course Rapha, but I rather spend my money on bike parts.
Very solid design, but sold out already… Any ideas where I can get these?
Have you checked out Rapha? Some of the most beautiful cyclewear in existence.

they make great design..
Thanks for all the links, I saw bernard’s a while back and they were all sold out. I hate most of the cycling gear as it’s too flash and not very clean looking. I’m not trying to be a walking billboard, but if I do it better look good and not like something out of a Kawasaki commercial (circa 1990’s)
Nice post, Scott. As a designer and avid cyclist, ‘style’ often falls by the wayside w/ sponsor logos and arbitrary design. Rapha may be the exception, mostly because they emerged from a design background and their taste harks back to the classic, older days of cycling. Bernards’s look stands out for sure. I like their palette and defined use of shapes.
And for those cycling enthusiast into something different, we put on a great event celebrating the yesteryears of the sport here in Montana. Vintage steel bikes, dirt roads, wool, leather, chianti, Gitane cigarettes…it’s all there. Check it out here:

Ciao.
Scott, I think you should take a shot at designing a cycling kit (at least jersey), and put it up on the ISO50 Store. Seriously, I would love to see your design sensibility on a jersey. You could make it locally in CA too, if you go with a company like ENDO Customs (they make the Golden Saddle Cyclery and Stanridge Speed kits)
i agree with boo. but i’m pleasantly surprised you’re a cyclist- if i wore headphones when i rode tycho beats would be first on the playlist. my kit colors are black and white btw, i’ll be looking out for your jersey designs….
I agree with boo, too.
Champion System, which is the kit company featured, allows buyers to customize their kits. They also sponsor top level cyclists and triathletes. As I mentioned above, I would have-to-have a Tycho cycling or triathlon kit! C’mon Scott, whaddaya say??
Best,
Sean
Another vote for Boo’s comment. Great to see you ride too Scott! So many times I’ve wished I was wearing headphones when I ride; Tycho is perfect for those long rides just for enjoyment.

That is great looking gear. I’ve got to imagine that not seeing too many kits you like makes you curious about what you could come up with.
+1 what BOO said
I agree with everyone’s comments, it’d be sweet! It’d look really rad to have a diagonal zip versus an up and d own then work the design into the line of the zipper or something.
Thanks everyone for the tips.. yeah always wanted to design a ISO50 jersey but it’s sort of it’s own discipline so want to give it proper time.
Rapha is awesome, they have a store / coffee shop here in SF that’s really cool. Their clothes are really well designed but the graphics are what make this piece stand out for me.
I want all of this
Glad to know you love cycling. If you enjoy BMC as much as I do, you might also enjoy Ritte. They started off as a joke and wound up producing custom carbon and steel bikes.

1000 points for Boo’s comment.
I’d like to see that jersey too
http://milltag.cc/ makes sweet gear. they featured a design collab with Steven Bonner in Computer Arts: http://milltag.cc/shop/series-one/last-place
This looks better than most new pro kits out there. Thanks for the share
adidas F50 series in the eixsting football shoe based on the sale of the F50 + series. F50 + leaving the user’s progress is a favorite of the lacing system and unique design of more durable mesh upper. This innovative TPU mesh material designed to enhance upper stability and durability, as it’s inspiration to architecture. For F50 football boots, this structure is equivalent to creating a more flexible and portable players and more foot support. Its upper is mixed with a variety of materials, high wear-resistant textile structure with Kangaroo leather lace cover. This synthetic textile structure as fit as socks feet, and has low water absorption. Meanwhile, the innovative lace cover increases ball area and provide a better sense for the ball. To make sense of F50 + more speed, adidas design for the outsole also tend to minimize the weight and flexibility. In order to enhance speed and mobility, F50 + X-type arrangement of the spikes, making the grip and the most enhanced resistance to minimize spikes. To comfort fit, F50 + using Velcro lace cover to wear more easily, such as socks with mesh-like bag foot slope and synthetic insole structure, to make shoes fit better and more stable. F50 + with a series of iconic color is popular in the F50 family, alternative style. While we wait for the new F50 appears before the recall of these predecessors, can imagine what the new F50 will give us new surprises!
