Broadcast is back with a collaborative mini album with The Focus Group. Its a pretty psychedelic piece of work, this one song doesn’t give it justice, you might want to hear the whole thing. Look for them to put out the CD/LP on the October US tour with Atlas Sound.
Recent Pitchfork Media approved Volcano Choir should be a big hit among the bearded folk lovers and for the Bon Iver fans out there, yes that’s him singing. I love the gliding drive this song has, it makes me want to go back to the softer side of Broken Social Scene albums.
I don’t know anything about High Wolf but i’m glad I found them, this song alone could replace that Mum void that has been empty for about 5 years now. I can’t wait to wake up on a cold winter morning and have this be my alarm clock song.
Hemingway has fused 2 more genres that should be together and introduces us to Yacht-Funk, not bad I like the sound of that, loving the synth work, its nice to have someone remapping and adjusting this disco direction.

i just found out about this yesterday.
broadcast + focus group = holy shnikeys!
been a huge fan of both for awhile. focus group, in my opinion, are the crown jewel of ghostbox. i know alot of people drool over belbury poly, but focus group and advisory circle to me are the lords of ghostbox. such a good collab. sidenote trivia: the guy that runs ghostbox and is in focus group (julian house) is an amazing designer.
psyched.
Yo Jakub, where can I get more High Wolf? Any idea what album that track is from? I love it. Your winter alarm clock analogy is perfect also! lol
Two things
1) All things Broadcast/Ghost Box related are made of win and good vibes. Thanks for posting!
2) This is the most beautiful website I’ve ever seen. Been following it for a couple of months. Makes me feel untalented seeing all the gorgeous, Ecktachrome-inspired design. With good music to boot!
Just what I needed on a friday!
Well that cover is almost the same as “Dig out your soul” by Oasis. In fact, it’s the same designer (Julian House). I think he is repeating himself… mmmmmm.

Collage is over-rated.
wow, so astute james. some white hand drawn text and a preference for red makes them ‘almost the same’. uh huh.
Broadcast are gods.
The Focus Group is amazing, as is the Ghost Box label.
Julian House is an unsung hero of graphic design, and easily my favorite contemporary graphic designer.
Oh yeah, and how fucking cool is that video (also by Julian House)?!?!?
I just found out about Broadcast the other day from the Warp20 post from which I explored the label and found them on the site. I absolutely love them and I the video is amazing. Their work with the Focus Group is just freakin’ great. I am going to buy the album this week for sure.
Wow! Touring with Atlas Sound?!
well i bought this and it’s amazing. honestly, if i didn’t know any better i would’ve thought this was a focus group record with occasional guest vocals from keenan.
can you tell me where to find the hemingway track for download? can’t seem to find it on the net anywhere… been listening to it all day on this site — thanks for posting!
Definitely digging the Volcano Choir album and it’s nice to hear someone else is in love with the quiet BSS. I hope they don’t lose that on the record they’re working on now. The live songs I’ve heard are all big epic songs, you can tell they’re fun on stage but those songs don’t always translate very well on record, they’re songs can be so beautifully subtle.
Was just about to comment on the Dig out your soul (Oasis) artwork and how it looked similar but someone beat me to it! Interesting to hear it’s the same designer and it appears he is indeed repeating himself!
Volcano Choir is definitely worth checking out. You can find samples of several of their songs on their album on their iLike page. http://www.ilike.com/artist/Volcano+Choir
