I’m posting these stills from Buffalo ‘66 partly because they’re awesome and partly because it’s a good chance to tell the story where me and Dusty saw Vincent Gallo at my neighborhood market on a Tuesday. It was surreal, I think we must have been staring uncontrollably because he was in line and had this look on his face like “are these idiots going to ask me something or stab me?” (all love knife style). We also saw him with Sean Lennon at a bar once and got some horrible blurry iPhone shot of him and Dusty. So I guess that makes us officially stalkers now.

By the way, Whatthefont says “Buffalo” is Prelo Compressed Medium. Not quite sure though.

Stills via the always incredible I Love Hotdogs.

  2. Scott says:

yeah, apparently he’s a jerk or something. he was surprisingly nice to us for the brief time we spoke though.

Gallo walked past me once on Cahuenga Blvd West back in 2001, i spoke to him and he said he was heading to the Hollywood Bowl to watch YES play that night.

He used to own John Lautner’s Garcia House (The Rainbow House) on Mulholland Drive, so it was walking distance for him.

some pics of the house here… http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/blogging/bloggingjohn-lautners-garcia-house-065549

That’s the funniest story! I’ve never actually seen Buffalo ’66 but I downloaded it this morning and skimmed through. I love what I’ve seen so far…I watched some pretty hilarious scenes. Would you recommend any of his other films?

    Simply amazing.

  8. I thank my girlfriend for telling me about Buffalo ’66. One of my favorite movies of all time along side Falling Down, Into The Wild and Donnie Darko.

Loved Buffalo 66 and even the Brown Bunny. I am constantly amazed how Mr. Gallo turns up in the most unexpected places. I’ve never seen him in person, but I’m always coming across him in commercials, advertisements and music videos. Glad to see him make an appearance here as well.

one of my favourite movies as well. and i might be the only one with justin, i also liked brown bunny (maybe it’s my passion for driving alone) though i understand everyone who hates it 🙂

impressive credits at the end of the movie, gallo did a lot in/for the movie!

  11. Dave says:

Even if the guy is a dick, he was in a band with Jean-Michel Basquiat! That’s legendary.

  12. Scott Heller says:

I live in Buffalo and I’ve never heard of this film. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It’s always nice to see some sort of artistic reference to Buffalo.

P.S. Maybe the Ghostly Crew could make it over here some time. :]

  13. Kenny says:

I remember watching this and really feeling his pain when he had to pee and could’nt find a spot for the life of him. pretty dang funny.

The font is definitely not Prelo Compressed Medium that was published in 2008.. 😉 The “B” and “O” also give it away.
