Make Malmo Happier

This wonderful stop motion piece was created by Stockholm based Snask Studio. Every frame would make a great photo and the type is beautiful. More info in their words:

Above is a sneak-peak of our concept “Make Malmö happier”. It´s a stop motion, that took 3 weeks to piece together. The film is part of a greater campaign going out to 250 000 house holds in Skåne and the southern region of Sweden. Full concept presentation will arrive in your letter-box shortly.

Generic Man Episode 1: Domes & Combs

My partner and I have run our label Moodgadget with a logo that, from the beginning, we intended to be an animated character. After 4 years of talking about it, over the holiday we finally made it happen. This is just one of many episodes coming together and I can’t wait for you all to see the rest. Below is a bit more information if you’re still scratching your head:

GENERIC MAN [the man behind the Moodgadget logo]

Our logo for the label has always been a mystery to people. The reason we picked it was because in our minds, it had life to it. Not only can Generic Man sit on a record sleeve, but he can sit in scenes, float across landscapes in his pod and hopefully one day people will be able to sit inside one.

The idea for this series is to have like-minded music lovers and/or new listeners realize their individuality as a listener. Most people don’t stop listening to TOP 40 music (which is totally fine) and never will think twice about this because they don’t care to dig for something they don’t know about. For those of you who have found this video, maybe you can relate to Generic Man.

Directed by Adam E. Hunt
Story by Jakub Alexander & Adam E. Hunt
Music by Teeel – Triangle Waves [Out on Moodgadget February 22nd, 2011]

As for the song in the video, it’s from artist Teeel whom we debuted on the ISO50 Dry Waves compilation. It’s beautiful slow synth material that oozes melody. Enjoy the free MP3 below.

Dropclock Screensaver by Tha

I’m getting sick of my iTunes album covers screensaver, thinking about purchasing this Dropclock.

DROPCLOCK is an aesthetically intriguing motion clock screensaver. Every minute of real time is numerically expressed with heavy Helvetica dropping into water in super slow-motion.”

Boolean Taxidermy

Zeitguised posted some new work on thier blog called Boolean Taxidermy. I want to eat it. That or float around and go to sleep in it. Anyway I think these stills are pretty remarkable. Check out the rest of their work to catch some of it in motion.

Boolean logic is a complete system for logical operations, used in many systems. It was named after George Boole, who first defined an algebraic system of logic in the mid 19th century. Boolean logic has many applications in electronics, computer hardware and software, and is the basis of all modern digital electronics. [link]

Brockmann in Motion

My love for Swiss design just grew substantially. Up until now I hadn’t seen any swiss or international style design pieces translated into motion. But now Vít Zemčík has done it and he has done it well.

This was an educational project made during the International Typography Workshop in Czieszyn. The task was to translate a known print design piece into motion. If you’re not familiar with the poster Vít has used, it is by Josef Müller-Brockmann, one of the greatest Swiss designers.

E3 is going down right now and the animated intro movie for The Beatles: Rock Band just came out. Beautiful imagery, I really like the sort of 2D-hybrid animation style. The whole thing feels sort of like a more refined Gorillaz. Video Link

Edit: Apparently it was Robert Valley who did the character animations for this piece.
