I think I read on Twitter somewhere that Sally Shapiro has a new LP coming out, if that’s true then i’m pretty excited to see what she does. Her last LP was a great release and she has grabbed great remixers like The Juan MacLean and this Lindstrom Dub edit pretty on point if you love drawn out space disco edits.

The deeper I dig into the Dubstep world the more I find myself obsessing over it and its impressive low end, this Martyn track even at a 128 bit rate rumbles like no other track that I have in my iTunes and the arrangement in the highs of the rhythm is some of the best i’ve heard in awhile.

Here is an older track from The Reflecting Skin aka visual artist Philistine DSGN, it has some beautiful epic parts similar to gorgeous work done by Bjork and Nine Inch Nails.

Not to creep you out with this being the song from Silence Of The Lambs but if you take it out of context its a pretty amazing synth pop anthem but still the imagery from the movie slide into my head.

I know what some of you might be thinking, Hey! i’ve seen a similar album cover recently by a few musicians like Adele but she just ripped it off from the IDM classic remix LP Marumari’s “The Remixes” on Carpark from 2002. Just kidding, i’m sure none of you thought that. I always loved this remix, later in the song it reminds me if U2 asked Lusine to do a remix, but I feel the whistling high synth is a sample of an actual U2 song but I can’t put my finger on it, Mux Mool says it reminds him of Geto Boys – Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta, I can hear that.

Tadd Mullinix aka Dabrye aka James T. Cotton aka SK-1 kicked off the Ghostly catalog in 2000 with his Dark IDM meets dark classical album called Winking Makes A Face. The beauty of this song in my opinion reveals itself starting at 2:23 and on, it has such good composition, when I just heard it I realized that the geniuses of this generation of composers should be making music like this.

Tom Croose turned me onto this John Selway song, it should be coming out on vinyl on Throne of Blood which is The Rapture’s label, its a nice deep cut that rides out all the way to the end nicely.

I have a list of 2009 Summer Jams, In my Top 25 Jamie Jones is climbing up that chart with his hit Summertime, should be out next month for any of you slow house vinyl junkies, it would be in the Top 10 but that breakdown is god awful, any wanna do an edit? please email it to me.

While Scott was in New York for F5 we got a chance to meet up with Tom Croose, Eliot Lipp, Mux Mool and head over to see Kode 9 and Flying Lotus play live at his new monthly in New York called Brainfeeder which is held at Club Love. I wish I could explain the energy and sound in that room and the heat too but maybe what’s best is if I post this live set of Flying Lotus from Plastic People so you can get a taste. The mix starts really becoming proper right around the 12 minute mark and on, if anyone has a track ID for the first song i’d greatly appreciate it because i’ve been pulling my hair out trying to find out.

Michigan’s Detroit House producer Rick Wade has worked with musician’s like Kenny Larkin and Theo Parrish over the years and the label Rush Hour has compiled a wonderfully detailed compact disc of some of his big hits. This all takes me back to some of the first vinyl I ever brought when I started DJing in 1997, just that faster disco house that i’d buy up at Melodies and Memories out in Detroit, MI. The tempo isn’t a trendy one and neither is the sound and that’s made me want to spotlight just this album alone, I hope you can find something special in this 70’s funk/disco style of midwestern house as I did.

So we all download and save images of items, graphics and photos from the internet daily and some of the time you have no idea where to give credit besides maybe the guy that posted it first or second randomly on a blog. I ‘d like to get some answers on a few of these but also just post some interesting pieces that we come across that might have been sitting on our drives for awhile that are go to for inspiration or just found randomly on a forum with no info attached and just look great. Either way hopefully the point that gets across here is that they are inspiring in some sort of way to you as well.

For the 3 images up here: the first one we’ve tried to replicate for an album cover for Shigeto, the second one always grabbed me and made want to put blurry dust spots on everything, the third one is perfect looking, if you could see it on a large screen it’s just stunning in detail, i wish i would illustrate like that, reminds me of Scott’s post a few weeks ago with the space colony.

Maybe while you rack your brain looking for who we should give credit to for doing certain designs you can listen to one of my favorite songs by someone I can’t believe we haven’t posted about but its good because we can spotlight him here on this post.

Moby’s got a new album coming and this is the first single. Whether or not you think Moby’s still relevant, he’s probably the only electronic musician who can get David Lynch to direct his video. At any rate, much better than what I heard from him last year and the video is great.

The debut EP from Vancouver’s synth pop duo Julian Carnrite and Kevin Schmidt has the right idea with a stripped down poppy soundtrack to a late night that is filled with inviting random friends out to hang out and enjoying cheap wine. The song Cool Your Shoes reminds me a little bit of Circlesquare meets Midwest Product, definitely a great cool down track for the long summer nights.

The new Machinedrum LP is finally out and the track Para Did is on repeat all the time at my place, its on this Outkast meets Blackalicious tip. Travis will be doing a lot this year so this won’t be the last time i’ll be posting on him.

I already posted this Fever Ray song but it was the remix, the lyrics won’t get out of my head i’m usually not a big lyrics fan so that means a lot I guess in my small world.

I don’t know much at all about the Clashing Egos but I do know Joakim always comes with the heat on remixes. The producer from Paris take us on a Beverly Hills sounding soundtrack cut with dreamy stabs that never begs for attention and layer upon layer of synth melodies, definitely worth your time.

A lot of people may know Chairlift from their Apple commercial but yesterday these 2 friends from Brooklyn turned me onto them by playing me their edit of Chairlift’s Evident Utensil and I thought I had to share it here since it was really catchy and reminds me a little of Kate Bush and that cute IDMish video of the girl singing, download the edit here exclusively, oh yeah I went there.

I really like the packaging for this Lemon Jelly album even though it doesn’t fit in any CD rack that I have, the cover above is great, the actual title(which isn’t shown) is a red balloon sticker that sits in the top right corner usually and has the bands name in it. The song Spacewalk builds nicely, it has this excitement to it because when the drums kick in its hard not to smile.

The same friends that shared the remix above of Chairlift showed me this video of Bat For Lashes, I guess i’m a little late to this party but better late than never going to the party.

I found this Snow In Mexico EP as a free download/donation site run by the musician, some really slow dizzee shoegaze from this Italian born rocker, I highly recommend Cinema 5010.

One of my favorite Books songs is this Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again, just the pure musical freedom they show off and it working out is inspiring. I might have to go out on a limb and say its the best quality sound with random field recording sampling laid out into an actual song we’ll ever hear maybe.

Kate Simko did a beautiful soundtrack for a science documentary called The Atom Smashers, The Creative Part is a favorite of mine, reminds me of what I love about Philip Glass.

Kyle Bobby Dunn is better known for his piano material, he has this beautiful drone EP called Fervency that is out now, some real gorgeous earthy tones that sweep me up, with the song clocking in over 14+ minutes you’ll be sure to fall in and out of this slightly hypnotic piece.

In my opinion Loscil is legendary for his sound that he has worked on over the years, the only way I could ever replicate is if I dove into a 20 foot deep tub of honey and sat at the bottom and had long bass tones aimed towards me from every angle while I sat and held my breathe. Listen to those slight echoes on the clicks! its like getting lost in playing with your fingers when they’re covered in pine sap and you think you can feel every fingerprint unsticking from the other.
