Andy Stott + Four Tet + CFCF + Wareika

Oil rigs spiking Lake Maracaibo - National Geographic, 1963.

[audioplayer post=29645]
There’s always that one song every year that whispers summer is over, time to preparing for hibernation. Andy Stott delivered that song this week, he’s in that excellent position of knowing what to play for a crowd but also in the studio has complete control of beautiful ambience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Canadians have been owning independent music in 2012, mainly Montreal, the latest collab comes from CFCF and Austra, with their cover of David Bowie, this is a good example of what I think the Bat For Lashes album is missing, the theatrics are there but the sound plays a bit better with a bit more substance.

If anyone missed this thoughtful Four Tet remix od The Xx I wanted to make sure you had a chance with it, he has been simplifying his production lately and its giving his sound new life.

Wareika is a go to for all my DJ sets, everything is brought in slowly like its feeling out if its going to work, the vox isn’t sterile nor diva-ish which lately have been drowning the House scene.

ColorVision 2: Videos That Must Be Seen

Daphni - "Ye Ye" video

Slowly i’m filtering thru the latest videos that I think have been visually appealing and a bit more underground since the last Colorvision. Below are some experimental videos but also songs that I go back to in youtube playlists i’ve made.

Coyote Clean Up x Daytime TelevisionMcKayla Scowl
Many people might find this effect as the one that might frustrate you when you have a internet connection but its eased by such a gorgeous track.

Solar YearBrotherhood
In love with this one, good ideas sometimes bring your video budget down, you just need the right people making all the calls, really looking forward to the Solar Year record.

Vladislav DelayLevite
An old favorite uncovered, not really into the effect on this one, seems a bit preset-ish.

TrustDressed For Space
Everything by Trust has my ear this year, the man shouldn’t stop until each song has video.

DaphniPairs
I’m not sure if this is going to be the Daphni live show visuals but by the looks of Pairs and Ye Ye I can see some transitions happening.

LORN & DOLOR

Lorn fans: if you haven’t already, you need to go and download his latest free offering in the Lorn & Dolor beat-tape series. If you’ve been following these then you only need to download part IV – otherwise hit the PARTS I-IV link for the whole thing zipped up.

The series is compilation of unreleased material and sketches all with Lorn’s usual HEAVY hitting dark yet ethereal and beautiful sound. It might not flow like a ‘mix’ (it clearly wasn’t intended to), but it’s surprisingly cohesive, given the jumpy/cut nature of some of the transitions.

I’m not sure who this ‘mysterious’ Dolor fellow is – but judging from the severe lack of info on him online and the similarity in sound, I’m thinking it’s just an alias of Lorn himself. Then again, in 1996 when I first heard Feed Me Weird Things I was absolutely convinced Squarepusher was Richard D. James.

Oh, I also though Burial was Four yet. So there’s that.

Yoshi Sodeokas Analog Synthesized Video

Yoshi Sodeoka is the man behind the latest video Elephant from Tame Impala. WHat you should know is that the man has been making analog synthesized videos since 2005 along with DVD, prints and also audio pieces. My favorite video has to be Violet Dark Spring of the Numinous Orb(poster and video above), its a little more my speed.

Nosaj Thing + Trust + Black Marble + Inc.

[audioplayer post=29544]
Its been years and he was still able to sell out crowds all across the world, Nosaj Thing has a new album and here’s our first taste featuring a delicate and haunting appearance from Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead.

Trust has a new EP coming to us, its the perfect marriage of true 80s goth dance music and melody, I don’t think i’ve ever taken it off any playlist since i’ve heard him.

What genuine collection of tracks by the Brooklyn duo Black Marble, if you want something darker than the DIIV LP and a hint of gloom then these guys are for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It’s always a surprise when a band signs to 4AD, I think of them as this unreachable label that signs Deerhunter sized acts but they take risks like every other label and 9 out of 10 times they make some of the best decisions. Inc is on that R&B tip its not that tragically smooth stuff, it has that crispness to it, definitely want to see more, maybe they’ll tour with Beacon, that’d be soo much ambient driven R&B, i’d probably need a couch.

Machinedrum+2400+Levek+Weidemann & Ry

[audioplayer post=29490]
Machinedrum did a mental 11 minute edit of Boards Of Canada, parts of it sounds like its all from a live show, once everything starts rolling Travis has pretty much created one of the best edits of Boards Of Canada i’ve ever heard.

Levek channels early Bibio and one thing that works beautifully is the strings used.

The first half of Howling is a dime a dozen, the way it blossoms is what makes it special, check the Ame remix if you want something even more rhythmic.

I would have mistaken 2400 Operator for a dreamy version of Cybotron Clear which is a huge compliment, I hope to hear more from this Danish duo.

450+ John Peel Show on Soundcloud

Update: I hope some of you grabbed a few of those, it was fun while it lasted.
**REMOVED**

Well this is probably the biggest event of the year for music listeners that I can think of. 458 full John Peel shows just went up on Soundcloud, from Can in 1973 to Autechre in 2003, its all there just waiting for you . Where are you going to start?

ISO50: Soundcloud Who To Follow Guide: #4

I see even bigger things happening for Soundcloud in the future, mainly the community within it coming closer so I decide to start a guide of people to follow if you like what’s on ISO50. Below I started off with frequent users that make your feed more enjoyable with quality posts.

This week we start with a label that I highly respect Kranky, today they shared a new single from the upcoming Loscil LP and if you keep scrolling down you’ll find that this feed is a very generous one. Next is Incase who are share with you a compilation they posted last week. You can find a lot of exclusive live versions on this one, one of the more underrated accounts on Soundcloud I think. One of my favorite DJs Tornado Wallace is starting to use his account more and more, he just his Recloose remix which i’m on the hunt for, hope you all enjoy.
