This one’s for my Breaking Bad brethren & sistren, who like me, are still reeling from the ending of one televisions greatest shows. A poster set by Ty Mattson illustrating the transformation of Bryan Cranston’s character, Walter White, over the course of the highly-acclaimed series.
Brandon Shaefer does some incredibly well executed takes on old movie posters. This was always my favorite type of project to work on, self-initiated, completely hypothetical poster art; allows so much freedom to experiment with client-type work without the pressure of an actual client breathing down your neck.
I first noticed Sydney-based design duo WBYK’s work on my recent trip to Australia for the Tycho tour. I was at the Metro Theater and the poster for a run of Best Coast shows immediately caught my eye. Once I got home and did a little more research I was really impressed by the depth of work in WBYK’s portfolio. I was also very surprised that their work somehow slipped by me for 7 years. Lots more good stuff over at their portfolio, some of the more exciting poster art I’ve seen in a while.
I don’t know anything about these other than that they are apparently Hungarian Star Wars posters, they don’t make me think of Star Wars at all, and they are kind of scary. Other than that they’re awesome.
We just got the 1976 red/blue on heathered grey hoodies in the shop, a nice classic layout on a comfortable hoodie at a low holiday price, get them before they’re gone at the ISO50 shop.
Also, we can hardly keep the Tycho Boulder Poster in stock, printed on a superfine eggshell white, this lithograph has been one of the most popular items on the shop, you can own one yourself or share it with a friend by stopping by our ISO50 shop.
And one last thing, Australia Tycho comes to you this month for the first time, head to tychomusic.com for more info.

“Forgotten Modernism” is the title of an ongoing visual exploration of San Francisco’s rich catalog of modern architecture by Michael Murphy:
Often overlooked, Modern architecture in San Francisco has played an important role in the ongoing Modernist Movement, and this work is an attempt to acknowledge the contribution that these stunning buildings make to the visual landscape.
Using bold colors and a stylized graphics, I portray this architecture not as something that quietly blends into a background, but rather elevating achievements that embody the best and highest principles that Modern architecture has to offer all of us.
Wish these were sold at every gift shop here in San Francisco.
Today, we will have the ISO50 pop shop open for ONE DAY ONLY at the official Nightlife pre-Treasure Island party at the California Academy of Sciences. We will have a merch booth with all new and classic posters and shirts available and Scott will be there to sign and hang out.

I’ve been waiting for a long time for this show and it’s finally here. Wedsnesday will be the first Tycho show in Boulder, CO and we’re all really excited. So excited that I created a poster specifically for the show. This also marks the first time I’ve designed a print from start to finish on the road (been out here for a few weeks now). The show will be with The Album Leaf at The Fox Theater this Wednesday, September 26th, 2012. Details and tickets here, hope to see you out!
We’re in the home stretch of our Fall Tour with only a handful of dates left. This will likely be the last full Tycho tour for a while as I plan to head back to the studio to work on new material. Thanks to everyone who’s made this past year so special, we’ve had an incredible time travelling around seeing so many wonderful people and places. Hope to see you all again soon!
If I was a right out of university for graphic design my first projects for myself before working on my own would be grabbing up a project like this for exercise. The olympics have a great history for amazing posters and branding and fine color scheme to work with so why not see what you could do and test out your skills. I personally like the empty pool swimming ones but the font couldn’t be any smaller which pretty much knocks it out of the running to be a real poster for the public.
