Just wanted to preview some new work here and write a quick post about an opening I’m having tomorrow night at Subtext Gallery in San Diego, California called Anium.

The show is split into two parts, still and motion. There will be 24 print pieces on display and 4 video installations. I’m really excited about the video installations but they’re still being wrapped up, so you’ll have to drop in to check them out. The goal was to create short moving posters with no related theme. There will be 3 small 27″ screens that we’ve rehoused and one 8 ft monolith with a 50″ screen.

If you’re in the area or close, come on by! It’d be great to meet some people from the blog!

The show will be up from September 13th – October 13th at Subtext gallery in San Diego. Click here for the Facebook event. If you can’t make the opening or are interested in checking out the show online, here’s the full preview of the show and ways to purchase prints.

ColorVision 8: Videos That Must Be Seen

Keeping the Colorvision series going here on the blog. Just some of the latest appealing music videos, found video, vintage revival footage.

King Krule: grabs that essence of urban youth and sharing it with a friend, soo well done without it feeling forced, trendy or marketed.

Braids: Subtle done right by this Canadian trio.

Blue Hawaii: One more from Braids leading lady Raphaelle Standell-Preston, jump to the second half, her and the singer from Diana are new favorites.

Spiegel: What a capture, I wish there was more footage of her like this.

Fort Romeau + Machinedrum + KSIA + Minks

This Gold Panda LP is still making waves, now labelmate Fort Romeau smoothes the track out into a daydreaming stare that you don’t want to snap out of.

Machinedrum’s LP on Ninja Tune is looking to touch some surreal worlds, have a taste of the video below if you haven’t heard the single yet.

I will keep pushing Keep Shelly In Athens, every single and every LP, i’m a sucker for it.

I can’t believe this is Minks, what happened to the sugary hazy garage?

Honda Hands

I’ve always loved miniatures so this short film for Honda is quite a treat. The tone and style are perfect; feels really timeless. And the exhaust from the motorcycle is a nice touch. Couldn’t find info on who did this so maybe someone can fill in the blanks.

Hayden + Blondes + Tesla Boy + Lindstrom

Lets start this week off with some slow jam videos that are dancey but not too wild for this summer heat. I’ve had this Hayden James track on repeat, Future Classics was the most prepared label for the 2013 summer.

Great piece by Breeder featuring moving double exposure imagery for the ADBNE 2013 Opening Titles. Really dig this design and execution on tracking.

Here’s the video Charles Bergquist and Scott worked on for Ascension. If you have seen the live show in the past year you’ll recognize some of the shots.

Leif Podhajsky goes mental is best way possible by tweaking, melting and bleeding the artwork he did for the Mount Kimbie LP.

Last week Bibio shared a video sampler of what his album will sound like, geeking out to this one.

Little People was sent over email to me, I love the use of moss, glass and projection, if only I could get large amounts of moss for live shows, i’d be soo content on stage.

This Sparkles and Wine teaser video has been floating around the web the last few days, showing off the importance of how you light a face in a video, makes a huge difference.

Last but not least, more great content from the guys at Yourstru.ly, sharing an inside look of the Solar Year studio time.

Red Bull Music’s Hashtag Video Series

Screen Shot 2013-02-27 at 3.03.24 PM

One of the better ways to deal with the confusion of subgenres and scene explanation is video interviews from the rising artists, and Red Bull Music did just that. They’ve recently conquered Alt R&B, Post Dubstep, Cloud Rap, and “Beats“, I think they’re going to keep going, well at least I hope they do. I’m not sure what will be next, honestly its a good series to watch, especially if you’re young and old and make beats. It gives the new generation reason and explains to them some humble beginnings and patience.
