After posting the Solvent song yesterday and watched the trailer that it was intended for, oh man does it make me want to own a modular synth but all I can think about is how i’d only make arpeggios though, hmmm. Also, how do you finish a song on these? I’d just make music all day and never even think of recording it as a song.

“I Dream of Wires” (IDOW) is an upcoming, independent documentary film about the phenomenal resurgence of the modular synthesizer – exploring the passions, obsessions and dreams of people who have dedicated part of their lives to this esoteric electronic music machine. Written and directed by Robert Fantinatto, with Jason Amm (Ghostly International recording artist Solvent) serving as producer and co-writer, IDOW is set to receive it’s festival premiere, May 2013.



Adam Fuchs and Flying Lotus team for a psychedelic video to promote Moog’s Sub Phatty. Moog claims that this is their “grittiest Moog synth ever”, they definitely found the right man for the job, this “Such a Square” track refreshes FlyLo sound.

Vitsoe has just released a great video depicting an apartment in Munich lived in by two Vitsoe veterans who have been living with the shelving system since the 60s.

Dieter Rams and general design aficionados will appreciate the various items presented on the shelves.

ISAORA is one of those clothing brands that define the highest level of outerwear for men, its pieces like these that you save up for a keep for years. Shigeto and I did the exclusive track for the video, the footage was directed by Paul Jung. If you get a chance to look deeper in their catalog I recommended everyone to look at their Reflective Coat, I saw it in person and was blown away by the quality and detailing on the inside.

I recently travelled back to Santiago, Chile (where I grew up) for one of my best friends wedding, and while there I was amazed by how many good local bands I was exposed to and how good of a music scene that city has.

Amongst them was Zebra, a dream-wave trio formed by DJ/Producer Sebastian Roman (Roman/MKRNI),  Miguel Irarrazaval (Treboles) and Enrique Escala (Treboles), who with their first EP “AD Portas I” caught the attention of Picnic Kubun’s label Endemika Records. I was instantly blown away by the level of sophistication in their arrangements and catchy hooks, not to mention how virtuosos they are in regards to live instrumentation, so when they asked me to design an album cover for their upcoming release, I was honored (I’m also working on an official music video…more on that later).

Today, Zebra unveiled the title track of that release, which carries the name of “Summer Love” and is set to drop early March, 2013.

Toro Y Moi’s album drops next year and he’s been dropping singles and remixes as small tasters. Also, another artist that will have a big year is Ducktails, above is a preview of the live show for 2013. Monoton has a 12″ reissue and debuted his first ever NYC show last week and Peaking Lights go dub and weird and its pretty perfect.

Still looking for those oddities and underrated videos but more importantly just some good music, if you got through all 4 and you loved that last one from Planetary Assault System then consider us friends.

There are soo many youtube accounts out there that put together found footage as music videos, some do it well and some don’t, some use footage we’ve all scene from famous 80’s and 90’s film and some like Broken Machine Films find some of the most obscure material and rework it completely.

Matt Pyke at Universal Everything has done some incredible work over the years. Every time they release something new I’ll watch it at least 10 times trying to figure out what’s going on. In my opinion, some of the most creative, colorful and technically complex visuals have come out of this studio. Interestingly, The Creators Project has done a short documentary on Matt, giving us a glimpse into his studio and way of thinking about his work.
