Daedelus vs. Powershot SD780

I just got home from Portland after playing the Emrg-n-See festival on Sunday night. Thanks to everyone who made it out, I had a great time playing and the energy was amazing. I had the honor of sharing the stage with two artists I have a lot of respect for: Flying Lotus and Daedelus. Luckily I brought my little Canon SD780 Elf and in between setting up my gear backstage, I was able to catch a little bit of Daedelus’ set on video (Sorry they’re so short, time was really tight).

The SD780 really is amazing for it’s size; it cranks out HD and takes some great still shots too. If course, it’s not the greatest in low light situations so take the above examples with a grain of salt. I will post some daylight stuff this week that show it’s real capabilities.

These are great! I have been having a lot of trouble embedding videos from vimeo on my blog… do you have any suggestions? Sorry for such a “newbie” question, maybe some of the commenters can answer my question.

I love my SD780. Takes really nice photos, though I am also disappointed in its low-light abilities (especially since it has a 3200 ISO setting). I use the video all the time, which I didn’t expect I would. I probably use the function more than anything else, actually.

Scott, have you considered doing a video blog?

daedelus is so much fun to watch perform and a joy to talk to. His new podcast for XLR8R is pretty laid back and lovely too.

Scott, did Jogger play at that festival? Have you ever listened to Jogger? They’re good friends with Daedelus and have a split EP. Check them out, they’re good.

Love the form factor of the SD780 and the fact that it does HD video. I think they would have been smart to put in fewer megapixels in this form factor and subsequently less noisy shots… but we all know to the consumer, a high mexapixel count sells :/

Needless to say, I have keep pegged on ISO80 and adjust accordingly… sometimes on my mini tripod when I remember to take it.

Here’s an example of daytime footage (excuse the shot through the dirty windshield) http://vimeo.com/4231140
