Echospace: Some love for Dub

Let’s start from the end of a session where you listened to some good dub techno, okay its stops playing and you’re world just comes back to normal like someone stopped pushing you on the swingset and just walked away.

If you haven’t listened to much Dub Techno, don’t focus on it, do something else and keep it a volume thats quiet but where you can still hear all the pieces echoing off and dim the lights, I promise you’ll find that it sets a tone, nothing generic just a good deep slow thump of life thats whispering for you to enjoy the rest of night or early morning.

A massive personal favorite. I’ve done an unhealthy amount of work to DeepChord/Echospace over the ages…also GAS.

  2. Loves me some Deepchord presents Echospace. Is it a shame that there’s so little dub techno out there? Less shit to dig through to find the good stuff?

  3. Jakub says:

I have all the DeepChord 12’s from 2001, I remember buying them when they came out at Melodies n Memories in Detroit, Dub in the blood.

  4. carl says:

@Alex – I still owe you a chunk of dub techno. I’ve been saying I’d dose you for ages now.

    @Jakub – I’m going to rob you.

A big of fan of Echospace; Liumin-Liumin Reduced is one of my favorites. Any chance for a Quantec blog post? Unusual Signals is out of this world.

  6. Jakub says:

@Skim I posted Quantec a couple times in the past 2 years I think

  7. @Carl yeah you do, I haven’t forgotten about that.

  8. skim says:

@Jakub: You did and I just have a bad memory 😉

    We need a translator stat!

  13. Tyler says:

http://translate.google.com .. I remember cheating on Spanish homework assignments in high school with that. I’m sure it could somewhat decipher Chinese.

  14. Alex / DFRNT says:

I couldn’t agree more. Dub-techno is music that helps me concentrate deeply, as well as inspires me to produce more, and as you say: sets a tone.

  15. Alex / DFRNT says:

Incidentally Kaito is another one to check – his “Special Love” redux album is sublime.

    This sentence made no sense.

@jakub That’s the best advice I’ve ever heard for dub techno. I’m always trying to get people into it but can’t quite explain why I find it so enjoyable. I’m going to have to just quote you from now on…
