UPDATE: Apparently they do still have the world expo (aka World’s Fair), just not sure it’s got as many “Flying Car” and “Kitchen of the Future” exhibits these days.
Found a couple resources for Expo67 here and here. I’ve always found the design surrounding the mid-century World’s Fairs to be amazing. There’s something about that international 60’s design vibe (e.g. the Olymipics) that is just absolutely timeless.
Another picture found from the Expo, its really all about those trees from the first picture though. Also, not sure why they chose black for the logo in this one, should have stuck with the white, negative space thing they had going on in the top one.

…and you’re totally right about that mid-century style that was championed by the World’s Fairs/Expos. It seemed like people were more positive about the future back then, had bigger and grander dreams about where they’d be in a few decades, and had an incredible sense of style that were all translated brilliantly through the design of the times.
i snuck into the 64 worlds fair in NYC a few months ago, it has been sitting abandoned for decades…

I have a huge folder of stuff I have collected over the years…as a result I lose or forget the sources of many of these. This particular image was pretty small to begin with, so unfortunately there is no full size version.

I really dig your design work and Expo67. Unfortunately the site of Expo has not been preserved. You can still visit the park and some of the monuments and statues but everything else has evolved to something else or simply not existing anymore. I would say more than 75% is gone!! I think, they should of preserve it but did not! The city of Montreal still looks like space age in some parts though, definitely worth it to come and check it out!!!

yeah that’s a cool site. I happened across it after I posted this, very nice scans. I will definitely be posting some of those here and there.
I went to Expo 67. I was in high school at the time and didn’t know enough to apprecaite all that I saw. The building I remember best was a round building that was made up of rainbow colored panels inside you wateched a wonderful 360 degree movie similar to IMAX stuff they do no. I remember those green trees from your one photo and the dome. I have a few pictures somewhere.
Yes, world’s fairs are still a going concern. Next year will be the biggest ever in Shanghai, China, with Yeosu (South Korea) and Milan (Italy) in 2012 and 2015 respectively.
