Four Tet+Bon Iver+Junior Boys+Damn Arms

ftetOne of my favorite records that I loved playing out when I DJ’ed was Four Tet – Pause because it had so many good dj set starters no matter where you played. Lately all i’ve wanted from Four Tet is for him to stop collaborating with other musicians and start on another record like Pause or Rounds, just a detailed melodic driven 180 gram colored vinyl that I can stare at and listen to all day.

I just posted Bon Iver a couple weeks ago but another EP popped up which was decent, could of been amazing but there’s this song called
“Woods” on it that I couldn’t handle to the point that I just threw that track away. As for this track “Blood Bank” I think it might be better than any track off his recent LP.

Junior Boys just announced they have a new LP slated for April 7th in the US, the album is called Begone Dull Care. I’d put Junior Boys down as the most listener friendly cross over band to play when you have a variety of friends over. “Under The Sun” is one of the more simple songs the Junior Boys have done but its so rewarding.

I don’t know much about Damn Arms besides remixes, as for dance music its pretty similar to your Cut Copy, College, and Midnight Juggernauts. The thing I do like about this song is the flute, i’m not gonna lie it grabs my attention and also reminds me of this Paul Simon video.

I’ve recently become quite attached to several Bon Iver tracks, this one here being a new must-have. Thanks. And Junior Boys… I’ll have to double back on that too.

haha… Woods was interesting for about 2 days for me… there’s only so much of the t-pain style auto tuning i can take. definitely hit that threshold pretty quick.

dude. my thoughts exactly about fourtet. his collaborations are not as good as his solo stuff. everything ecstatic was good, but his more relaxed stuff is hard to beat.

i’d have to say that Everything Ecstatic was a better album than Pause.. his collaborations with Steve Reid can be hard to swallow sometimes.. the last one (NYC) was pretty good though. Also the album he produced for Sunburned (hand of the man) was awesome – Fire Escape. His remixes have remained consistent as well.. though i also can’t wait for a new Four Tet LP, I would say it is safe to assume it won’t sound anything like Pause or Rounds (judging by the Ringer EP from a few months back)

I find Bon Iver boring… there has just been way too much other interesting (and far more original) folk stuff coming out over the past few years – his stuff sounds kinda starbucks/adult contemporary to me… like David Gray or some shit..

I like four tet’s new side project twofingers. I can’t say i’m much of a fan of junior boys, everything I’ve heard from them bores me to tears.

You need to check the new prefuse 73 vs Sound tribe Sector 9 e.p that just came out.

That Four Tet track is a real steam train! Especially when things start moving at 4:30.

Opps yea, you’re right. I tend to get Amon Tobin and Four Tet mixed up a lot.
