Gold Panda just announced his tour and is giving away a free unreleased track, maybe its an album track or maybe just something for an EP, either way that should make some fans excited.
There’s been a lot of buzz about Unknown Mortal Orchestra being a great live band but until now I only heard snippets and I think a remix. I finally put on the album and i’m a fan, I really enjoy how the drums are recorded and the fuzzy highs.
Subpop is sharing another Washed Out track from his upcoming album, sounds like something straight from the Ulrich Schnauss handbook to me.
I put together this short airy track yesterday and slowly disintegrated it under the name Heathered Pearls.
i heard H pearls tru futuresequence.com, and i have to say, i like tim hecker, but this thing sounds delicious. hopefully there will be more from heathered pearls.
Thanks for this! Can’t wait for new Washed Out! Been rocking him since the weather got warmer…
The Ulrich Schnauss handbook is a go to handbook. Whether you’re collecting yourself for a job interview or putting the moves on a potential significant other; US has got you covered.
Washed out is fantastic, looking forward for more.
H-P is doing great in the late hours. Super.
Good post.:-)
I agree – that Washed Out track – it does sound a bit like Ulrich Schnauss (I can make out the lyrics a bit better on this one), but I can’t fault that… I’ve listened to the track a good three times since this went up.
Best music post ever… ever
Love hearing new stuff from Washed Out. Thanks for this 🙂
Only just noticed that in the washed out song they are using a permanent marker on paper sound. Would be interesting to see if they actually have someone setup with a marker and mic at a live gig 😛
Thanks for the post. The Washed Out sounds considerably cleaner. Or, less washed-out, I guess. But still a great track. Like the Heathered Pearls, too. Nice one…
I like the Heathered Pearl track. It has a nice watery feel to it.
Nice Paul Simon sample there from “cool river” on the “endless tunneling” tune. I dig that part of the tune as well.
So I just downloaded the washed out album, and i must say i love where it could have gone. Every production on the release was beautiful but lacked a great engineer. Washed out, well, Washed out a bit. He couldn’t quite mix all of his elements together correctly and he couldn’t get ahold of the tracks dynamics. This also reeks of Not being Mastered. If it was mastered; either the mastering engineer sucks or he was trying to pretty up something even worse.
Now, on the flip side. Every Production was beautiful had great melodies and a very laid back feel. It was amazingly beautiful. I just couldn’t help but think he would have benefited from working together with a studio engineer that is very experienced and really put these productions into the upper stratosphere. Each track could have been longer lets say 5:30 to 9 minutes in length to really flesh out every sound and melody had to offer. The instruments and DSPs could have been wrangled to synchronize everything nicely. I was a shame to hear such great Music done so Poorly. I hope he Revisits this work with someone like Ulrich Schnauss or even Collaborate with Paul Tebbott From Horizon Fire. I ended up feeling a bit cheated.
