  4. Must be huge or broken. It’s just a white block for me.

  5. Oliver says:

WOW. I’ve seen this done before, but not on that level. Definitely a candidate for website of the year already!

The underlying technology is pretty interesting – drawlogic has a good post about it here:
    http://drawlogic.com/2008/11/17/as3-augmented-reality-in-flash-and-papervision-3d-flartoolkit/

FWIW you can sometimes get away with using an image on your iphone rather than needing to print the image out.

  6. Rory says:

Thats fantastic!! Going to try it in the office 🙂

  7. DAMN IT! Feel like I’m missing out on a inside, private awesome.

Figured out, I’ve been blocked from YouTube. Hence the white block, how interesting.

    Pretty cool stuff anyway 🙂

  9. Holy crow that’s awesome!

  10. I haven’t even tried it yet, but what an amazing concept! It holds a lot of cool possibilities for websites. I hope it’s not too “heavy” on the bandwidth. Thanks a LOT for sharing this 🙂

its the next big advertising thing…they are already doing it in japan. could you mean an ikea catalog like that?

  13. the closer the paper is to the camera the louder it is, if your too far away the sound goes away.

  14. Finally saw, oh my hat, no ways. I don’t believe it!

  15. greg says:

    That’s fucking nuts, man.

    Nuts.

  16. There are several augmented reality projects underway right now for iPhone too. Here’s a tech demo: http://gizmodo.com/5027674/iphone-augmented-reality-program-wont-fool-any-girls

I’d love to have a pair of glasses that had this kind of tech. It can’t be that far off. It would be so nice to have a map overlay when you’re walking around an unfamiliar city.

Seeing stuff like this just makes me want to drop everything and learn it. It would be so much fun to build 3D interfaces for real 3D environments.

OK this is crazy. It looks like I am in a multimillion dollar action movie that someone is rendering on the fly.

  18. Shotgun being Arnold Schwarzenegger.

  19. Matt Davis says:

Think of how this is going to affect the porn industry.

  20. BLIGGY says:

Augmented Reality. This stuff is has been around a while now right?
Haven’t you guys seen this before??

  21. rtificial says:

Yea augmented reality stuff is really taking off. I’ve seen several nifty….and creepy ones for awhile now. One of my favorites was a story book that would animate as you read it in front of the cam. The creepiest ones were busty anime chicks doing random things like picking up stuff and showing some panty shots, plus you could do stuff to make em change outfits. Leave it up to the Japanese to take it to that level!

  22. Imagine having a business card with a shape on it, that would activate some cool stuff on your site, once the potential client held the card up to the cam :p

  23. Jake G says:

Yeah augmented reality has been around for a while, but not much attention has been paid to it. In my object oriented programming class we are tackling augmented reality, and right now I’m designing a furniture catalog allowing you to view placed furniture within your desired room, showing the user almost exactly how it will look, before they buy anything. Its very interesting, its the future most definitely.

Missing the buzz here, the link is broken. Any other mirror maybe?

    Cheers in advance.
