Before Justice and when Daft Punk was starting off there were some big names in the house(vinyl only) world like Bob Sinclar, Doc Martin, and Louie Vega. None of them besides Doc Martin are worth checking out now since they’ve failed in my opinion especially if you compare recent work to old. Those 3 guys though back then had catchy hooks without the flash and trendy effects over them, this Supreme track by Mogi Grumbles feels like the perfect bridge to get all this distortion house back to a enjoyable level for all the different fans on the dancefloor.
I saw Eliot Lipp play the other night with Laser Sword, Glitch Mob, and a few others. The man is very impressive live especially when he’s on the Moog playing the songs. Looks like he’ll be touring the US more in the coming month, he’s definitely worth checking out.
Sam Valenti posted this Peter Schilling song on Facebook the other day and I haven’t heard a catchier chorus in a song like this since Simple Minds I think, also you can’t ask for more than a repeating chorus at the end of a song that goes into a fade out.
If you watch TV at all you’ve probably seen the Nike LeBron James commercial with this song by Cornershop, the song is perfect for the video, I hope to see more commercial licensings as good as this in 2009. *throws chalk up in the air*

Wait, you are putting Doc Martin above Bob Sinclair? I have to seriously question your judgement on this one, sorry.
The Peter Schilling – Major Tom post has some serious glitch when I try to listen to it. Maybe an “organic” cpu remix? Or possibly a bad connection?… Anyone else experience the same? I find it somewhere between neat and annoying….

Have you heard old Doc Martin 12’s? and new Sinclair? its almost night and day, and I can respect Doc Martin now but I understand your point
Nate –
I ripped the track from youtube, its kind of hard to find a quality version, i’m looking for vinyl of it so I can rip a cleaner one, sorry man

NICE ONE! enjoying it now
unfortunately i’m having problems understanding the english version. i suppose it’s a “exact” translation from the german one. it’s funny, when you listen to german version, the film clips almost perfectly fit to the lyrics. really nice one.
Hahaha I like some “glitch” in my music but the Peter Schilling sounds like it’s being eaten in a bad cassette player. I think something went amise with the audio file. Buzzer’s link doesn’t sound like that (plus he sings in deutsch in it too).
I can honestly say I can’t think of one Doc Martin track. I thought he was better known for being a DJ, than a producer. Back when I first read/heard about him in the mid 90’s he was DJing deep tribal funk. I’ve always liked Louie Vega better with his partner in Masters at Work. I haven’t really bought any house records in years and quit keeping up with it so intently. I do read a lil about going on’s from time to time, but not enough to know what they are doing now.
Lazer swords and glitch mob, I’d like to have seen that. I really enjoy the glitch mob.
I like the break on that cornershop track, best track I’ve heard from them since that Fatboy slim remix of brimful of ashe..
perhaps that’s why i’m having problems understanding…
@Nate: Yeah, I’m hearing the same distortion. It’s quite unpleasant.
“Before Justice and when Daft Punk was starting off their we’re some big names in the disco house vinyl only world like Bob Sinclair, Doc Martin, and Louie Vega.”
1. Louie Vega is not (and never was) “disco house”.
2. Daft Punk “was starting off” years before Bob Sinclar ever released anything.

1. fair enough, we’re talking main house acts, I’m guessing you like Daft Punk and/or Sinclar. Doc Martin also wasn’t a disco house DJ but they we’re the bigger house names at the time for guys that toured and DJed everywhere.
2. 1996 seems about right for both, both in 1998 finally had 12’s coming out that we’re being spotlighted
check the soundhack stuf coming out of hardwax for some up to date disco chop ups that sound like its meant to.
bob sinclair is a disaster.
Back around 96-97 Armand Van Helden and the whole monogloid crew were running things world wide. Monogloids were Armand, Dj Sneak, Junior Sanchez, Roger Sanchez, Masters At Work, Rythm Masters, Todd Terry. Later on Daft Punk, Ian Pooly, Laidback Luke, Basement Jaxx were made members.
