Hancock + Howard Jones + Soccio + CSN

Sometimes I need a break from digging thru eMusic and blogs and just need to post some classics. You can’t deny that flute/whistle goodness in Watermelon Man. I wish someone could write a chorus like Howard Jones these days, insanely good. This Soccio track gets hypnotizing especially when the girl starts singing. Crosby, Stills & Nash round off the 4 tracks today, keys for days, love it, see some of you at F5 in NYC tonight.

That Herbie Hancock flute thing is actually taken from a series of academic recordings of central African tribes – they never saw a dime of the profits from it.

Got to see Howard Jones live at Walt Disney World of all places. He still has an amazing voice and sounds great live.

I have the same thing happen to me after writing a bunch of electronic music, dealing with automation and finally mixing down the same song over DAYS. I finally pulled up some steely dan and roy harper to sooth my ears. And really I’m not that into that type of music but it hits the spot like a cigar now and then.
