Sometimes I need a break from digging thru eMusic and blogs and just need to post some classics. You can’t deny that flute/whistle goodness in Watermelon Man. I wish someone could write a chorus like Howard Jones these days, insanely good. This Soccio track gets hypnotizing especially when the girl starts singing. Crosby, Stills & Nash round off the 4 tracks today, keys for days, love it, see some of you at F5 in NYC tonight.
Hancock + Howard Jones + Soccio + CSN

That Herbie Hancock flute thing is actually taken from a series of academic recordings of central African tribes – they never saw a dime of the profits from it.
Oh,oh,oh..I’m crazy about that Gino Soccio track.
Super! You made my tune for today.!Thanx.:-)

Got to see Howard Jones live at Walt Disney World of all places. He still has an amazing voice and sounds great live.
The chemistry of Herbie’s Watermelon Man is magical.
I have the same thing happen to me after writing a bunch of electronic music, dealing with automation and finally mixing down the same song over DAYS. I finally pulled up some steely dan and roy harper to sooth my ears. And really I’m not that into that type of music but it hits the spot like a cigar now and then.
So love this mix!
nice to mix it up with some oldies. have repeated these songs about 4 times now, love!
thank you so much for bringing us back to Watermelon Man~! A true gem of a song~!
