HTML 5 Music Player on ISO50

[audioplayer post=27846]
It’s finally here, a music player from us that you can listen to on your mobile device.

The design has been updated as well with a larger play button, larger font, and links to iTunes & Amazon if available.

**Try it out and give us some feedback.

Special thanks to Karl Peterson for making this happen.

Update: You might need to have the latest Java update installed. Also you may need to clear your browser cache after the update.

Great design decision with the large play button. In terms of feedback, I would house the player in the dark brown box to separate it from the text content below, at least a rule or something.

I’ve been hoping for this for a long time, great work.

  3. Dan says:

Works great on Safari w/o Flash player installed. Now I don’t have to launch Chrome to listen to your posts. Thanks.

  4. really nice job fitting it to the existing aesthetics. props to the coder

  5. Jack says:

Does that mean you’ll be able to listen to your playlist on the IPhone too, or just the upcoming posts?

  6. kbpeterson says:

@Jack – we’ll be switching the playlist player over to HTML5 soon. And keep an eye out for even more new audio features…

  7. Mike says:

I can select name of track ..cool)

  8. n says:

THANK YOU! Yet another way to ditch Flash.

  9. Luis says:

Trying it on my iPhone and works beautifully.

  10. This is totally great. works really well and an improvement on the layout of the previous player.
    Enjoying that Clark track too.

  11. Michael says:

I wish it worked on Firefox without flash being installed. It just comes up with an error, telling me I have to upgrade, even though I’m using the latest version (13.0)

  12. Patrick says:

It worked great on my iPod after I cleared my cache. This is an awesome upgrade. Thanks

Listening to this & watching the Venus Transit

  14. kbpeterson says:

@Michael – Firefox doesn’t support the mp3 format, so the html5 player is forced to fallback on flash. Unfortunately Firefox appears to have no plans to support mp3.

  15. Jakub says:

    @OL’SKIPPER nice one!

  16. Will says:

I’ve been waiting for this so it’s great to see it, but some of the elements of the player are still misaligned. I’m using the latest version of Firefox on Windows if a dev needs to know.

  17. brad says:

Worked flawlessly on Opera on Android 4.0 — nice work! And of course, great tunes too! 🙂

  18. Jack says:

Yay, so great! Looking forward to it!

  19. Wastl says:

Damn, i am looking for a player reduced like this for months – no skills for programming unfortunately 🙁

  20. not liking all the capitols

  21. Nedbiner says:

Love the player, but artist name should be first then song title like the old player with a – separating them.

    Artist name – Song title

    Easy-peasy…

  22. JACH says:

It´s nice that you put the link to amazon or itunes.

  23. KYLE says:

running this on chrome at work, we’ve got really bad servers and anything flash takes a million years to load. this was the first time i’ve clicked on a song and it played right away. i was shocked and thought i did something wrong!

it looks pretty clean too, thanks for the update, will try on my android in a bit!

  24. Leo Utskot says:

The is awesome, but as far as functionality and design is concerned. Would it be possible for you to release this as a free software project so that others can implement it too?

  25. Tomino says:

    @ NEDBINER = QFT!!

    Artist name – Song title

Apart from positive feedback, there is always room for improvement. I suggest you downsize the font by one so it matches the text in de posts.

    Keep up the good work!

  26. kbpeterson says:

@Nedbiner – Good call, it’s all fixed up.

  27. Jeremy says:

Thanks! I’ve wanted to listen to this blog on my iPad for the longest time. This is great!

  28. I am interested in implementing a similar player on my website but I’m not the best coder… I looked at the Sidearm site but there was no contact page / info. I am a long time reader and fan so anything that Scott and the crew are willing to spend their hard earned $$$ on is a good endorsement in my book. If anyone could shoot me a link or an email at hello@rudyfrench.com I’d be willing to pay for this sort of media functionality on the site. Sorry if this is spam but I didn’t know where else to post 🙂

  29. By the way…

On a more personal note, I’m here in NYC and will be seeing TYCHO at Webster Hall. I was considering buying a print from the shop – the one that advertises the show here:

    http://www.merchline.com/iso50/categorydisplay.5581.c.htm

If I did buy it and brought it with me is there anyway I could get it signed at the show? How would one go about doing that? I only ask because that would be just amazing. It would sit in a place of prominence in my home!

  30. Art Vandelay says:

that Clark album is phenomenal, thanks for sharing

  31. Peter says:

No running or total time, just time-less?
