After posting the Solvent song yesterday and watched the trailer that it was intended for, oh man does it make me want to own a modular synth but all I can think about is how i’d only make arpeggios though, hmmm. Also, how do you finish a song on these? I’d just make music all day and never even think of recording it as a song.
“I Dream of Wires” (IDOW) is an upcoming, independent documentary film about the phenomenal resurgence of the modular synthesizer – exploring the passions, obsessions and dreams of people who have dedicated part of their lives to this esoteric electronic music machine. Written and directed by Robert Fantinatto, with Jason Amm (Ghostly International recording artist Solvent) serving as producer and co-writer, IDOW is set to receive it’s festival premiere, May 2013.
what would lopatin do? #WWLD
This looks great and I bet 4+ hours doesn’t ever get boring if you’re really into these.
I have to ask though, visually speaking, does anyone else cringe when the “Hardcore Edition” text in typewriter font is stamped across the video at 1:38?
Thanks for the plug Jakob. Yeah that “Hardcore Edition” stamp is totally cheesy and we know it. Perhaps there may have been another way to go about it, but we really needed to drive the point home that this isn’t the trailer for the regular version of the film. It’s so hard to get people to read anything nowadays you pretty much have to slam them with it for it to sink it. For example even after all of those texts in the beginning, I got dozens of messages and emails saying “so when is coming out?” / “will it be on BluRay?” etc even though it’s all answered in the trailer.
Jakob you should get into modulars! You don’t have to make whole songs on them – a good approach is to experiment and record & then use some bits as loops… It’s pretty much the best way to get interesting/unheard of sounds and textures!
Hello there, You have done a great job. I’ll certainly digg it and personally suggest to my friends. I am confident they’ll be benefited from
