I really hope my Vegas trip this weekend is going to be that weird. I’d probably go to more shows if things like that happened. I think Scott should wear a glowing white robe for his shows and hover around.

  2. wow… speechless

Wow! That is pretty much hilarious! I just watched this with my younger sister.. she really couldn’t comprehend that it was a joke until the lightning bolts came out to play!

Love the looks on the crowd’s faces as the out-of-this-world humanoid (aka strange, bald and glowing skinny white guy) floats in from the background. The head at the end reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5ALIL7T764&feature=related

    Is that Moby (without glasses)?

  11. John says:

wow, their videos have a history of being damn good. Not a fan of the song at all, and it’s almost difficult to watch that skinny white guy haha videos like these make me think about how the hell the writers explain their ideas in words rather than sketches, if thats even possible.

  12. Drake Hollander says:

Hot Chip’s music has got progressively weaker, while they’re video concepts have gotten progressively stronger. I guess that makes them Meh-tastic.

  13. tOran says:

Not quite on par with Tim and Eric, but a mind trip none the less.

  14. Chris says:

Amazing video! It was directed by Peter Serafinowicz, he has a show on the BBC which is brilliant – definitely check it out if you get the chance. This is my personal favourite!

I agree that it’s really not Tim and Eric, but I’d like to see a feature film for sure. Apparently red lazers are better than blue.

  16. Jarson says:

    this is amazing hahaha!

  17. M says:

Kinda looks like Weird Al shaved his head…

  18. Kyle says:

    Dear Hot Chip –

You need to spend more time making the music sound listenable. Who are you, OKGO?

    Thanks.

  19. Reinier says:

    Haha one word. Epic

  20. nedbinder says:

Doesn’t the first lines tell the tale…
“How did we get ourselves so lost”

This is because of all the crap the record executive’s have pushed and shoved down our throats, barking out sellout mainstream radio.
We’re now lucky we’re in a period of backlash by the democratizing of the production (final cut pro) promotion (myspace) and distribution (itunes)
That lets bands experiment and have greater control over the whole process, they don’t have to sell their soul, just being honest to their art and speaking from their hearts, the audience will recognize the authenticity!

    “The emperior has no clothes”

    Which begs the question…
“How did we get ourselves so lost?”

  21. Brian Park says:

First of all, I thought the song was actually pretty good. Second, what on earth is Nedbinder on about?

  22. Clayton says:

I am with Brian Park, I think the music is pretty good their sound has gone from normal indie act to more risky thats always good imo… for me the video is great up til the fire breath stuff. I thought the concept of a boy band preforming the track was pretty interesting as is, especially when you introduce the non-pretty dude.
Fire breath and lazer eyes is too overt for me.

    “Let’s get subtle”
