We’ve finally reached it, the Top 10 songs of the year. Make sure to check out the rest of the playlists easily by using the Featured Post Section on the right side, I hope you’ve found something new or just a playlist to sit back with.

**Side note: I didn’t include Moodgadget or Ghostly International releases because that would just not be fair.

#10 Jessy Lanza5785021

Just how everything expands after the 3 minute mark does it for me, Junior Boys perfection.

#9 DJ RashadPass That Shit (feat. Spinn & Taso)

I need the extremes of both ends of the music spectrum to make me feel normal, being from Detroit you couldn’t get enough Ghetto-Tech, this song just makes me happy.

#8 DianaBorn Again

“The Pop Song of the Year” for me, all ages and genres, nothing matters but the music here.

#7 PtakiKrystyna

The Polish in me and my love for slow disco bumped this song into the Top 10. Really though you can’t deny that bassline and the sample, just heavy lush disco, its like the West Coast Rap of Disco.

#6 Toro Y MoiSay That

If anyone deserves Top 40 support its Chaz, keep him happy and in the studio.

#5 Boards of CanadaNothing Is Real

They came back in such a perfect way this year.

#4 The FieldA Guided Tour

My favorite listening album of the year, beautifully prepared, a formula that doesn’t need adjusting.

#3 Majical CloudzChildhood’s End

The only emotionally vocal song that hit me this year, he does simplicity soo well.

#2 Dirty BeachesCasino Lisboa

This song is the definition of passion and drive.

#1 BibioA Tout a l’heure

Uplifting done right, changes my mood instantly, music is priceless when it can do that to you.

Nicely done Jakub, I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that the work you put into this is appreciated.

Jakub, if you set out to introduce new tracks to your blog readers you have succeeded! Been too busy to find new stuff on my own.

yay I was wondering if you’d put a BoC track in the countdown, Palace Posy instantly uplifts me in the same fashion as Tout a l’heure.

  7. Beebo says:

Thanks for the “Nothing Is Real” Boards of Canada track making your top-10. Personally, I would have opted for “New Seeds” instead (best track on the LP IMO), but not bad!

  8. Jakub says:

“Nothing Is Real” was the only track that made me check the tracklist right away

  9. veronica says:

A Tout a L’Heure – such a gloriously delightful song. An awesome pick! Thank you for the great list, Jakub!

  10. Spiffy says:

Boards of Canada rules. They completely blow Bibio out of the water and it’s not even close. They’re on a whole different plane of consciousness.

As Biggie once said, “If you don’t don’t know, now you know….”

  11. Jakub says:

@ SPIFFY you’re crazy I like you but you’re crazy

  12. Spiffy says:

Indeed, Bibio instantly shifts my mood – every time, no matter what!

  15. Topher says:

I still regularly listen to an iTunes playlist I made from your 2010 list. Found some of my all-time favorite songs that year. Looking forward to diving into this year’s list when I find a little time. Thanks so much for putting this together! Sincerely appreciated!

  16. Greinke says:

Honestly no offense to his fans, but IMHO, Steven Wilkinson’s music is vastly overrated. I find it no better or any more meaningful than say Neon Indian, Teebs or Golden Panda with all of its quips, blips and quirky sounds. Not to say comparisons to those composer’s are terrrible, it’s just that at its core, Bibio’s sound is strictly peripheral, surface-skimming and vastly cosmetic. There’s simply no depth or soul to his sound, which again, isn’t terrible. I’m just astounded that this track especially is Jakub’s number 1 pick for 2013. I truly can’t understand the big deal here. My 2 cents, moving along now.

  17. Jakub says:

@GREINKE I don’t think of him as a “blips and quirky sound” sort of guy

  18. E-Dub says:

Boards of Canada, always strong. Great line up here!

  19. Duffner says:

    @ E-DUB & SPIFFY

I agree, TH was the most anticipated, biggest and best release of 2013. Everything else was cute and all, but pales in comparsion. BOC #1 hands down!

  20. Jayde says:

Thanks, I’m enjoying this mix. Looking forward to the new album so much!!!!!
