The best $40 you can spend for a vinyl music lover early next year just went up for pre-order:
This box set includes a bonus 45 with “Signs” from the long out-of-print Donuts ‘Fan Club 45’ b/w DOOM & Ghostface’s “Sniper Elite & Murder Goons” – two tracks over Donuts beats which were recorded in late 2005 prior to the original release of the album.
Box contains: Eight 7-inch singles
I’ll never forget hearing this record for the first time and what lovely way to share it, amazing work Stones Throw.
In other news, visuals keep getting pushed to their limits, the latest projection/music video from Nosaj Thing takes a simple idea and runs with it, the song features you know who from Blonde Redhead.
A good music video adds a lot to a song. A music video like this transforms the song. The motion and sound work so well together.
Really impressive when it started displaying freeze framed colour shadows behind the dancers.
The Nosaj video… wow. <3
RIP Dilla. We miss you.
interesting video. I would be interested in seeing the tech behind that. I’m wondering if its just perfectly choreographed, which would be impressive, or if the technology is responding to the dancers themselves. If so that opens the door to some really cool possibilities.
It looks like they used a Point Grey high-speed camera for tracking the dancers and then beamed the visuals onto them. Looks like the creators project did a blog post about the video -> http://thecreatorsproject.com/blog/witness-daito-manabes-surreal-dance-experience-for-nosaj-things-eclipseblue-exclusive-video-premiere
The possibilities of using this kind of technology for new music/dance/visual interaction is exciting.
I need to rediscover J Dilla. Hip Hop has lost its soul and his music reminds me why I have a select collection still on my iphone.
