Jónsi of Sigur Ros is back with a more daily listenable LP but still keeps the classic Icelandic sound that he’s known and loved for. This song gets me excited to think there might be more days ahead that will make me what to put on albums by Jónsi.
Now with David Letterman and Rolling Stone fame I wonder what Fleet Foxes has has in store for us in 2010, I hope we get something like Blue Ridge Mountains, it has that Midlake, Band Of Horses and Choir Of Young Believers touch with infectious piano and strumming.
One thing I like to ask certain boutique record stores is what is the most surprising selling record and a couple times the clerks have said Pantha Da Prince, Etherea which was in East Village in New York told me they went thru over 200 copies which blew my mind. Well his new release is on Rough Trade and the only song i’ve heard is pretty interesting, a lot of random bells, glasses, and maybe even ornaments being played over Bola like IDM techno, looking forward to the rest of the LP.
If Hollywood decides to keep butchering up our childhood favorite cartoons then I hope when they get to He-Man they atleast get Gatekeeper to do the soundtrack, they’d be perfect for it, its like Moroder-esque with these more distort organic field recordings during the epic parts, looking for more from these guys.

God, that Boy Lilikoi by Jónsi is honestly the most beautiful track I’ve heard in a good while. Perfect Christmas music, too. Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for that, I needed it.
Love Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s one of my favorite Fleet Foxes tracks. Have your heard their release (perhaps it’s an EP) with She Got Dressed, So Long to the Headstrong, and a couple other songs? It’s a slightly different sound, but quite good.
Trust me, I’ve heard Fleet Foxes new material and I can confidently say that it will not disappoint either existing fans or new ones. Robin has written several songs (Bedouin Dress is a good example) that give a hint of evolution from the first two releases but I just heard a brand new song that
can best be described as part folk, part motown harmonies, and part uptempo humanist anthem that will set the tone for rest of the album. By the way, I’m a big fan of your design work! I saw you speak at OFFF in New York a few years ago. You should do a Fleet Foxes poster!
Dude I had no idea Jonsi had a solo project… Wait a minute that sounds just like Sigur Ros ! And that’s probably their friends Amiina on the chords too, just like when he’s with the band !
I have much respect for each of Sigur Ros’s member, but hearing this makes me want to think Jonsi just cut the fat and still sounds the same. ( if this is the sound he gets solo, then what are thee others possibly doing ? )
Anayways, sounds fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for posting the Jónsi track. I was slightly disappointed with the Riceboy Sleeps album, so I’m really happy about this new LP.
Jonsi 1:53 easy on the Melodyne !
Man I sure miss they days I was hiking in iceland. Nothing better then some Sigur Ros, Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses, whilst doing so.
Fleet Foxes 🙂 loved them a long time and their gig in Brussels a while ago just blew me away. Hearing Robin singing Katie Cruel on his own it’s just epic.
That Gatekeeper does have a He-Man feel…or at least a He-Man on acid feel. Oh wow this song keeps getting better!
