Another city, another cliche aerial shot from the wing. Flew into Stockholm this evening, haven’t seen much of the city yet but it seems like a very interesting place. It’s rather cold for what I am used to, I think it’s nearly freezing outside; about 0°C. This place really drives home the weakness of the US Dollar: I walked by a McDonalds tonight and noticed that a Big Mac will run you 60 SEK, the equivalent of about $10 USD. Yes, $10 Big Macs. Will be posting some shots from Amsterdam soon, they had the most beautiful clouds there.

Don’t want to spoil your appalling discovery, but I think you mean 60 SEK 🙂 Unless Stockholm have sudden run out of Big Mac supplies…
Beautiful shot!
what the heck, a big mac will cost you 60 swedish kronors. i had to post this to show my disappointment. hag
Nice, I’ll be going there tomorrow (yes, because of the workshop on Friday) 🙂
As people pointed out, a little typo there, 600 SEK for a Big Mac would be insane. You can at least count one sold print for Friday, guaranteed, and that would give you almost two expensive Big Mac’s 😉
Anyway, hope you enjoy your visit, I’ll be sure to enjoy the workshop. And that’s a beautiful cliche aerial shot from the wing by the way, love how the window frame creates a high contrast fade at the top, and love the toning.
Haha, that’s kinda funny man.
Like the two guys before me said, a Big Mac is 60 SEK rather than 600. But, I think you’ve possibly misunderstood the value of our currency, or you slipped writing this post, because $10 USD is kinda right, 60 SEK (kronor we call them) equals about $9 USD. Naturally, then, 600 SEK equals a little over $90 USD.
Hope you’ll have a nice visit to Sweden man! By the way, how much is a Big Mac in San Francisco anyhow?
What can I say, I’m a slow writer, my post seems a bit redundant after Simons reply, four people saying almost the same thing…
Scott,
Welcome to Stockholm, we’re gonna do our best to make you feel welcome, cold and all! ;o)
Stockholm is a beautiful place. I’ve only been there for a few weeks during the summer, but I intend to visit again. I plan to live there for at least some of my life.
If the sea hasn’t frozen over, try and take a trip around the islands while you are there. They are wonderful. Transholmen on a warm, sunny day really is like paradise.
Gotta love the exchange rate…
good eyes everyone, it was supposed to be 60sek not 600….. but yeah, that still evens out to about $9….. $9 big macs 🙂
just getting up to head out and see some more of this place today, can’t wait.
Love your photo, care to give us an incite to how you achieve that subtle teabag stained flavour?
I enjoy the cliche wing shots… This one is awesome… So was the previous one. The gradient on the top left looks odd though.
Marcus Evans: “The gradient on the top left looks odd though.”
I believe that is the edge of the window. Lovely photo though. It breathes a bit of new life into a old cliché.
Beautiful
Welcome to Sthlm! don’t forget to feed the polarbears 🙂
oh and for some nice kodak spots try walking from subw.stn “slussen” to “marietorget”, those old blocks above the waterline/road has a really nice feel to them, as has “gamla stan/old town” aswell.
Ooh, such a pretty poster: http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Russian-Industrial-Posters_i975976_.htm
