I don’t know if you’ve been to the Electronic Page on iTunes this morning but its all things LCD Soundsystem everywhere. The new record sets a new pace for indie dance rocks every changing style. After giving this record a listen I trust James Murphy to the point i’ll just click buy on his next lp without sampling.
Talib… Kweli…
Dust off those subwoofers for this Skream cut, its dubstep in a more 8 bit world without the wobble but plenty of low end.
It warms my heart to here raw recordings these days, this track by Terror Bird melts like a goth candle over a Crow DVD with passion and enjoyment. The harmonies aren’t the bee’s knees here but these efforts can’t be denied, had to share.
No matter how much I try and no matter how drunk I am… I just can’t get into LCD Soundsystem. I have tried my darndest to like em but… no…
On another note… that Skream track is the bee’s knees and darn tootin’ at that. A mighty fine track if I do say so myself. I’m typing this with one hand as I listen to Skream because my other hand is too busy in the air.
LCD’s new stuff is so goooooood! Pure tears of joy.
… Jacub, can you please find some more music similar to Tim Hecker for us? I have really gotten a lot of good listening out of that, so thanks for bringing his music to us (me). I would reccomend the english/british label Touch, but if you have something else, please let me know. I am actively using the music you post during work hours, although not the rap and funky stuff, that is just too contemporary for me.
Thanks for the Kweli track. I haven’t listened to him since those old Soundbombing albums. Also, I have been listening to Tame Imapala’s Alter Ego a ton. It’s my new jank for the week. Is there a name for the effect they use in the beginning starts around 0:09 – It’s similar to the effect the Chemical Bros. used on Star Guitar. Just curious.
I also can’t get into this LCD Soundsystem album either. I really liked the first one and it’s great gym and running music. They were pretty fun at Lollapalooza – nothing beat them doing Daft Punk Is Playing… while they played opposite the very stage Daft Punk would play after them. But this new one (I listed to every sample for every song on iTunes yesterday) just feels too crisp and mechanical and lifeless. Mixed with the parts where Murphy’s vocals are just drifting off like a valium induced nap and the whole thing seems really uninteresting and boring. I saw him DJ once at a bar in Chicago and it was a great time. I’m just not into the band anymore.
So looking forward to LCD coming to Øya this year in Oslo… For those that said they can’t get into this new album… you need to check your pulse.
No explanation needed for the Kwe. Haven’t listened to that track in a hot minute.
