    This really illustrates a difference in cultures and priorities between Portugal (and perhaps other parts of the Europe) and the United States.

    I’ve been in Portugal when they’re tearing up the road for utility work. They totally blow these designs away to get at pipes, wires, etc.

    What’s amazing is that they completely reconstruct the designs when they’re done!

    In U.S. cities we’re fortunate if the pavement is reasonably sound after utility work.

    These shots are beautiful!!!!! But the original one’s are here in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at Copacabana beach and were designed by a famous landscape designer Roberto Burle Marx. Check out some photos from the original in Copacabana.

    The traditional Portuguese pavement ist original from Portugal, not from Rio portuguese build the most pavement in Brasil, also thr ones in Copacabana in Rio.

    I have seen these designs in brazil, but considering it was colonized by the Portuguese, I would guess that these roriginated in Portugal and then they brought them to brazil right?

    Yes, you are right. Although you can finde it in Rio de Janeiro, it was brought from portugal…
