Machinedrum did a mental 11 minute edit of Boards Of Canada, parts of it sounds like its all from a live show, once everything starts rolling Travis has pretty much created one of the best edits of Boards Of Canada i’ve ever heard.
Levek channels early Bibio and one thing that works beautifully is the strings used.
The first half of Howling is a dime a dozen, the way it blossoms is what makes it special, check the Ame remix if you want something even more rhythmic.
I would have mistaken 2400 Operator for a dreamy version of Cybotron Clear which is a huge compliment, I hope to hear more from this Danish duo.
This is amazing!!!
Travis shouldn’t call this an “edit,” because I’ve heard this 1999 live recording from Warp 10 @ Old Truman Brewery in London and it sounds almost exactly as performed. Perhaps the best BoC track of all time…
I heard that BoC re-work last week… at first I was luke warm, but now I’m really starting to dig it.
The rest of these tunes are stellar, too. Thanks, Jakub, for providing great musical inspiration as always.

there’s your source.
i can second Kelan’s claim. this is a fantastic original BOC live track, not an edit
Yeah, I’ve got a bootleg from that show. Definitely the same track, but remastered – the lows have been boosted quite a bit. Loving it!
Chill guys, it’s a remake. And can’t thank Machinedrum enough for this. SO GOOD. Here’s the entire bootleg Board of Canada live show: http://ge.tt/4mIbBuN
People always get very sensitive about their Boards of Canada… Here is the text direct from Machinedrum so you commentators can get your panties out of a bunch:
“I’ve always been a massive fan of Boards of Canada, if its not obvious already! 10-11 years ago I stumbled upon a bootleg recording of one of their extremely rare live performances at the Warp 10 Birthday party in 1999. The closing tune at this show has always remained a mystery to me. As far as I know it has no title and has never been released. It’s quite possibly one of my favorite things they have done and really is a shame it never came out. You can hear the original bootleg recording (quite bad quality) here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYEZueAelKc
Fast forward to Summer 2012… Since I am a huge nerd I decided to take this bootleg recording and re-produce it for fun. Using the recording I laid new drums over the existing drum patterns (almost 100% accurate to original), replayed some synth parts and the bassline. The only thing I didn’t try to re-create was the original vocoder parts and some random samples so I used the bootleg recording for that. I was tempted to make a shorter 4-5 minute version but I figured I should preserve the piece in its intended length (although the length was most likely due to it being a live jam).”
Thanks for the clarity @M3RCK
That was exactly what I thought about when I heard Levek..Bibio!

Wow that BOC edit really restyled the song but kept the same lo-fi introspective feel that we all know and love. I’m impressed!
