You may remember San Diego based director / photographer Charles Bergquist from our post a while back on his projections collection. We’re all big fans of his work and through Ghostly and Tycho we have worked with him a lot over the past year. I am currently working with him on the new Tycho live visuals set and realized he would make a great contributor to the blog. Charles will mostly be doing video and photographic posts with a focus on process / equipment (like his soon-to-be-delivered Red Scarlet).
So everybody give Charles a warm welcome, his first post should be coming shortly.
Welcome Charles! This site just gets better and better!
Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store.
<3. your work is inspiring! i wish to execute some video work like yours one day. hopefully SOON! 🙂
I haven’t paid attention to anything so fully in a while. Excellent subject, footage, music and presentation.
Congrats Charles! Your everyday blog is truly inspiring. Stoked to see you on here now as well.
Those videos are amazing!
Welcome Mr Bergquist 🙂
PS : love how we can see the wheels spinning while the board is in the air, so cool, so coooool man
Excited for the new addition! Welcome and thanks!
I was just thinking about how great it would be if Charles’ work was featured on ISO50, seeing as there’s a very similar aesthetic and mentality between his work and the stuff posted on here. You totally read my mind, super stoked to see one of my inspirations on one of my favorite blogs.
Wonderful!! Welcome Charles. Great addition–you read my mind as well–his video for Matthew Dear’s Slowdance has been on constant repeat lately. Haunting, fluid, and gorgeous.
Fantastic!
Looking forward to your contribution Charles!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I’m really excited to be writing on the blog and hope to give everyone some process insight as well as some of the nerdy tech stuff that I get into. Also, we’ll try to give you behind the scenes and process on the show visuals that Scott and I are working on for the upcoming shows!
Thanks again everyone for the welcome, I really appreciate it!
your work looks fantastic. perfect collaboration and i can’t wait to see the combination of your visuals and Ghostly’s music. exciting!
Welcome Charles, been a big fan of your work for a while. Looking forward to getting to know your workflow and process a bit more.
That sk8 video is freaking hypnotic and amazing. Beyond the pale. Fine fine work.
Nice stuff, What’s the camera used in these videos?
Very nice skating video. I was pretty sure it has been slowed down with Twixtor and I was even trying to see the artifacts in video, but found nothing. Instead it was shot with Olympus i-Speed 3 high-speed camera, so I guess there is not much need for slow down software effects. Seriously good work!
Congrats!!!!! im already in love with your first photo… fitting and just how i like my colors.. jakub may have to step it up.

Yeah, @Macaco and @Very it’s the iSpeed 3, mostly 2000fps at 1280 x 720p.
