Probably one of the best backyard entrance to a home that i’ve seen in years, I love the open space of the top floor, i’d probably put a few Eero Aarnio Pastel chairs out there.

Its been years and he was still able to sell out crowds all across the world, Nosaj Thing has a new album and here’s our first taste featuring a delicate and haunting appearance from Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead.
Trust has a new EP coming to us, its the perfect marriage of true 80s goth dance music and melody, I don’t think i’ve ever taken it off any playlist since i’ve heard him.
What genuine collection of tracks by the Brooklyn duo Black Marble, if you want something darker than the DIIV LP and a hint of gloom then these guys are for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
It’s always a surprise when a band signs to 4AD, I think of them as this unreachable label that signs Deerhunter sized acts but they take risks like every other label and 9 out of 10 times they make some of the best decisions. Inc is on that R&B tip its not that tragically smooth stuff, it has that crispness to it, definitely want to see more, maybe they’ll tour with Beacon, that’d be soo much ambient driven R&B, i’d probably need a couch.
Been a great run so far out here, heading in to the home stretch. We’re playing The Trocadero in Philadelphia with The Album Leaf this Saturday and have a couple of tickets up for grabs. Email aegphillycontests [at] aeglive.com with your first/last name and subject line TYCHO for a chance to win.
Just rolled in to Charlottesville for the show tonight at The Jefferson Theater, see you soon!
A year ago, I wrote about a video I made for our Nosh 404 page. Shortly after the success of that video, we set out to film a sequel. The idea behind the followup centered around the same fictional Special Forces team we used to handle that very dangerous and exciting 404 mission. This new video is sort of like a highlight reel of all the skills and tactics they can offer in the “web services” realm.
It’s been a while since I’ve written a process post here, so I figured this would be a good project to start back up again with. It’s pretty far afield from some of the typical design writing I’ve done, but it was a really fun project and an interesting case-study in non-traditional marketing for startups.
Final video above as well as a quick breakdown showing the original footage and the eventual effected final output. Follow me on Twitter here.
Norman Seeff has photographed some of the greatest legends of our time. One of my favorites was Steve Jobs. Seeff was able to photograph Steve both in the work environment with the Apple team, but also in Steve’s home.
In captions that support these images, which can be read on his website, Seeff recalls how Steve surveyed his work before he was comfortable enough to allow him to come to his home. This photoshoot would in turn produce one of the most iconic portaits of Steve Jobs of all time.

We’ve discussed Vitsoe around here before, primarily focusing on what they are most known for: Dieter Rams’ furniture designs, including the 606 Universal Shelving System and the 620 Chair Programme. Founded in 1959, they have worked with arguably some of the most influential mid century graphic designers in Germany, and their attention to detail in the company graphic identity and literature has always been just as impressive as the furniture itself. Now, Vitsoe has started to release some of it’s amazing archival material via it’s newly created Tumblr page, and it’s worth a visit.
I find myself most drawn to the posters and graphic identity that Wolfgang Schmidt created for Vitsoe early on. Being a record collector, I’m obviously obsessed with this 7″ that they pressed in the 1971 for one of the various live performance events in the showrooms.
The poster he designed in 1972 for the 620 Chair Programme is genius – it really captures the idea of ‘furniture as a system’ that both the 606 and 620 embody. Each unfolding of the poster reveals a new layout, ultimately culminating in a whimsical layout featuring the Vitsoe employees as the models.
Schmidt’s book of invitations for the Frankfurt fair in 1971 delivers humor via his iconography combinations.
Finally, Günther Kieser, most famous for his jazz and rock posters, art directed various photo shoots for Vitsoe. This is a postcard featuring one from 1968.
Bookmark the Vitsoe Tumblr page or follow the twitter feed for daily updated content.

A poster a day is a task you never want to take on unless you like to frustrate and stress yourself out, instead take the energy you started off with and figure out a way to keep yourself motivated and plan a finishing point. This series from Coloradore is starting off great, I can’t wait to see more.

Machinedrum did a mental 11 minute edit of Boards Of Canada, parts of it sounds like its all from a live show, once everything starts rolling Travis has pretty much created one of the best edits of Boards Of Canada i’ve ever heard.
Levek channels early Bibio and one thing that works beautifully is the strings used.
The first half of Howling is a dime a dozen, the way it blossoms is what makes it special, check the Ame remix if you want something even more rhythmic.
I would have mistaken 2400 Operator for a dreamy version of Cybotron Clear which is a huge compliment, I hope to hear more from this Danish duo.
A few days ago I posted a few US dollar redesigns, none of them really caught my eye but I had a feeling our readers could do better and you all responded positively so lets get this started.
