In keeping with the holiday (does this count as a holiday?) I thought I’d post a song from Belle & Sebastian (everyone’s favorite Scottish indie-folk outfit and perhaps my favorite band). I’ve always loved their album covers, usually very simple duotone photos depicting something to do with the album title. Always classic and fitting for the style of the music. I’ll be posting more from them in the coming weeks.
Belle & Sebastian – "Piazza, New York Catcher"
[audio:piazza.mp3]
I’ve been meaning to listen to some of their work but never got around to it. This was the perfect excuse, so I bought the album! Thank you 🙂
One of my favorite bands ever. Great stuff, though I never got into Dear Catastrophe Waitress much as an album. I’ll have to give it another listen.
Always been a big fan. Went to see them at the Islington Carling Academy a few years back. One of my mates got talking to them afterwards and mentioned it was my birthday so I got my very own belle & sebastian rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’. Good times.
Pretty sure that “Piazza, New York Catcher” is Juno soundtrack…
Check it, real good flick.
haha… my fiancee and i just bought this album yesterday, last one of theirs we had to get 😛
Hey, really nice pick, this song it’s the one I like the most in this record. It sounds a bit like something by José Gonzalez, didn’t it? Then I definitely adore the way it begins: “Elope with me…”
It’s a great song, but their last two albums were grossly disappointing to me.
Clarendon! – What did i win 😛
I stumbled across B&S a couple of years ago and love’em – perfect melancholia, for when you are in the mood 🙂
great selection
great work
great everything!

I haven’t listened to bell and sebastian in a while thanks for reminding me, If you’re feeling sinister is possibly one of the best albums ever recorded. I completely agree about the covers, not only are the great but they fit the mood of the band perfectly. Come to phoenix sometime man it will be fun.
