I’ve been spending most of my recent waking hours looking for an apartment in San Francisco. Most of what I see looks like it was built in 1900 (because it was) and is light years away from an architectural style I gravitate towards. I prefer styles like what you see above for Plastic Moon by Norisada Maeda Atlier. (Good luck finding this in SF.)
As weird and crazy as it looks, I think this is fantastic. Reminds me a little of the Micro Compact Home, though I don’t think you can pick up and move everything quite as easily. Sterile looking? Perhaps, but that’s what you get when you combine a living space, dental clinic, and a swimming pool all into one space. I bet I could get a lot of work done here if I switched out the dental clinic for a design firm. I would live in Plastic Moon instantly. And of course, a little resemblance to Jakub’s Moodgadget cube never hurts anybody.
if you can afford to live there, go for it. however, i think most of us live where we do due to the constraints of reality. a 60’s ranch would cost a tenth of that place and, personally, has much more soul and livability. being a visual artist too, where would you hang your work, if the whole place was a piece of art? i too share the desire to live in a place that looks like its from the 2001 a space odyssey backlot, but corian is just so expensive! ha!
it’s my number one goal in life to have a really nice house. I’d even buy an old house and renovate it to look like this on the inside if i had to. Keep us posted on which one you end up getting
I love the slick style of the house…many ppl wouldn’t go for such a modern style of home…
There’s this one place in where I live that has similar vibe…well it’s in Pensacola, FL…but I would love to live there…

oh my, I love this!
Haha, if you lived there and drove a Nissan Cube, you would have very good brand consistency
Moodgadget built a house too?
If your into that cool Japanese minimalism check out this awesome blog:

oh no! turmoil at the mansion?
Doesn’t look like there is anywhere to curl up with a cup of tea and a fireplace..,
Stuff built in 1900 >>>> this yuppie b.s.
love the details over the pool!!! would make a great shadow composition
I have been through many houses now, I love renovating them, making them a good living space. I also have four kids. I can appreciate a clinical decor for a house, I try to live a zen like, minimal space, even with the kids but you know, in keeping with my dog, my bikes, my organic garden, it has to be said, the person who lives in that house does not shit in that house, there is no way. When I make brick oven pizza, bread or bring in a fresh patch of tomatoes, its gonna be messy, not whitey. There comes a time when you have to get out of that cosmetic condom and actually live with the juices. My raw milk cheese course would probably shrivle to a bleach like taste in that kitchen. sowwy. Not every corner of that place needs to be designed like it was build to lay down miles of cocaine snort tracks…
that place is awesome if you want an inspiring, cool place to work, but for living in? yikes.
This is stunning and I can’t understand how people think it’s cold & unlivable. Different strokes I suppose, but this is gorgeous.
This particular example has a 2009 Villa Savoye-esque vibe.
Diggin’ it.
