Prefuse 73+MF DOOM+Sex Trothler

Prefuse 73
Prefuse 73 patches together a very strong 30 track LP called Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian, The artwork looks like it was thought out nicely and so was the record. Mr. Herren has reached a great level in music making which is instead of selling out and going the Steve Aoki celebrity DJ route and writing ringtone rap like some other fading stars that i follow on twitter. Herren sounds like he got to a point where he could really push his sound past glitch hop and more into sampling live instruments in the studio which should be every musicians dream but it isn’t anymore. Now he probably will get to work with great musicians and if anything I hope to hear some more collaborations with him and other New York bands.

New Doom is finally out in stores, it features this amazing Raekwon track and he also MC’s over J Dilla’s Lightworks!

Sex Trothler better known under the name Seth Troxler releases again on another Brooklyn based label called Wolf+Lamb Music. The sound reminds of straight early to mid 90s Detroit Techno that was minimalist, melodic, raw, and forward thinking. The vocal is a definite plus, it sounds like a proud diva, something many other younger producers would never of had the courage to touch.

I’m honestly not impressed with MF Doom, and never really was. For this, he just sampled UFO – ESG, and let’s Raekwon flow without adding much at all.

  2. Tommy says:

ESG was the name of the band, and UFO is the track. Sorry for the mix-up.

  3. Scott says:

The cover is by Dan McPharlin, one of my favorite artists atm. This one in particular is all about that Roger Dean + Yes style.

  4. Rent says:

I was immediately attracted to the new P73 album as soon as I saw that cover…and then I heard about the entire process and ideas behind the album and was even more impressed. hearing the album in its entirety, I don’t think it’s Herren’s best work, but he’s definitely keeping it real and that’s the best part.

Doom is usually hit or miss for me and I love Wu-tang and Raekwon but the new album is not doin it for me. maybe it will grow on me
side note…is it just me or do the vocals in the seth troxler track sound an awful lot like Jermaine from flight of the conchords haha?

man i am so far past being interested in scott’s work. i dunno what happened, but his style/production just totally lost it’s appeal to me. his sound just doesn’t work for me anymore…i dunno what it is, but his production, at least to me, is kind of lite…which is weird because he’s all mr. analog warmth guy. anyhow, i liked what you posted, but not enough to drop cash until i hear more.

as for the doom track, i’m used to hearing cormega rap over that tune. i haven’t checked out born like this yet, but i’m hoping it’s got more bangers than stinkers.

  7. I don’t think I have much to say other than I totally agree with how you stated your opinion of “selling out”. i even tumbled this post as a link, hahaa, here: http://roblr.tumblr.com/post/90353134/selling-out-what-is-what-was

Hey Jakub, do you have a blip.fm account, perchance?

  9. The vocal Seth uses in Aphrika is from a Maya Angelou poem called phenomenal woman, might even be her voice he’s playin around with. I heard this track at Save the Cannibals which he was DJ’ing last weekend…sounds solid!

Also lovin that P73 artwork, I saw something similar on a sci-fi blog, the name escapes me, but it’s probably the same artist.

  10. Jason Leno says:

Reminds me of Mr. Roger Dean
