Saw this on FFFFOUND and thought it was interesting. It was just an image named "Pythagorean Tree" so I looked that up on wiki and found this. I recently saw some pictures of plates with these super detailed illustrations of owls on them, all done in that fractal style. The tree reminded me of them, does anyone remember the plates I am talking about? They’ve been making the rounds on design blogs for a while now.

I remember a toy I had when I was younger (70’s).
It was some kind of puzzle, I guess.
It being pieces of wood in shapes like the ones in the art-work, and with basically the same colors (I clearly remember some brown ones as well though).
The point was to create patterns and shapes and it was basically the 70’s idea of ‘my-first-artpiece’ ..
Wish I could remember the rest of it, the name for instance.
“got idea ? ” (as David Lynch likes to put it).

I saw this same piece on FFFFound.com as well and was intrigued. so I found this java appletout there on a mathematics website as well. It’s a rather interesting way to see how it’s assembled in steps without having to do all the work yourself. Enjoy.

No brown ones in the example link, but after a Google I learned that there are dozens of variations.
Great stuff to play with (just to build shapes basically).
