Had a chance to explore in and around Death Valley last week with my new favorite lens, Canon’s 24mm F1.4. Stumbled upon a few ghost towns, countless abandoned mines, including one that a migrant had used as a shelter, and even Charlie Manson’s old getaway truck, still preserved in the one of the driest climates on earth. What’s nice about this particular 24mm prime is how it’s fast as it is wide, which makes it great for shallow depth of field in landscape photos, and a perfect tool for capturing shots indoors, in tight places.
I was considering the new Zeiss Distagon 15mm f/2.8… but at a little over 3k, it’s not exactly the cheapest lens on the market.
It also lacks autofocus…

I was very curious about this lens…and from your quick review, it seems like it’s my next purchase. Oh, and your photos are amazing as always! Proof right there than the lens is just a tool, but the true art comes from the one behind the lens. 😉

Dammit, just bought the 35mm 1.4 and I’m now wishing I’d gone for the 24mm, that extra width would be very useful I think, could see it being my ‘always on’ lens.
