Simon Scott of Slowdive and Televise keeps the beauty from the guitar coming with his new album on the Miasmah record label. Miasmah’s discogs says “we want to make music for scenes and places” and this song Introduction of Cambridge does just that, what a wonderful way to start an album or even your evening.
I don’t know much about Pogo, I have this feeling that someone cut up and slowed down Passion Pit, Empire of the Sun, The Avalanches and a Disney movie to make it, pretty enjoyable idea for a song.
An original Detroit DJ now Brooklyn friend Lauren Flax is making bigger moves into production. Her single You’ve Changed that came out in June just dropped some remixes, I still like the original the most but this remix definitely caught my ear.
I know this is like the 3rd Neon Indian song i’ve posted in the last month but the album just went on sale today and i’ve loved it but I never had this song, probably because he sampled Pineapples, how are you gonna sample Pineapple’s without pissing off every Italo Disco fan ever, I hope this guy knows what he just did, good luck legal department:

great songs, i especially like the song by Pogo. It is sounding great in my ears as i wade through small details in a large-scale interior design project i am in the middle of at work. It always helps to have good low-key music like this when the “fun” part of the work is over and the detail work begins. It can sometimes take days to get through it all…
what other music do people listen to when the idea stage moves into the slower paced work-through-it stages? i personally prefer lower key stuff to keep my patience at bay.
thanks for the great post Jakub!
P.S. that album cover is intense
Pogo uses samples from movies; Alice is from Alice in Wonderland; my personal favorite is Mending.
Pogo is a relatively young guy from my hometown (Perth, Western Australia). As Jim said, he’s getting well known for sampling movies. Here’s his youtube profile with most of his body of work – http://www.youtube.com/user/Fagottron
Neon is awesome…. PF finally picked up on it too: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13510-psychic-chasms/
Pogo is AMAZING one of my favorites out there. That song Alice is still on my Magical MP3s Top 10 List
Great post.
It’s funny how Simon Scott left a hugely influential ambient-pop band like Slowdive (he was such a phenomenal drummer during that time!) then years later creates music that is even more out of this world. This is really nice work.

If Disney had any brains they’d hire Pogo and give him the run of their vaults. He could make crap movies like Tarzan seem worth watching again.

thanks for the link 😉
haha, hey why’d my post get edited? anyway, I can’t believe I even remotely defended pitchfork after watching this. what is happening? this hurts my brain. who is this tool?

sorry, I wasn’t trying to say I found Neon Indian at all, but yeah wow on abc geez thats huge
Hey I emailed you guys about Pogo a few weeks ago! Not sure if that’s why you checked him out but it’s good to see you guys liking it!
Alice is a relatively older track of Pogo’s tho, he’s released tons since then. Best of all, I do believe that all of his music is free via Last.fm…after all, how do you sell albums filled with conglomerate Disney samples so prominent in the mix like that?
Where can I find this Lauren Flax remix?! Love it, thanks!
Yeah, Alice is a bit older track. It’s almost a shame to listen without the accompanying video which use the original footage used in the samples. Nothing crazy visually, but hits the ol’ nostalgia strings quite nicely.

Check it out!
Cheers!
I was searching to see if you guys had talked about Pogo (which you have), and wanted to share his latest masterpiece for “Up”. As a long time reader, but very silent commenter, I know you guys will get a kick out of this just as much as my fiance (AndresM) and I. Can’t stop listening to it and just wanted to pass it on! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVxe5NIABsI&feature=player_profilepage
