  3. Damion says:

    How did you record it?

  4. axi0n says:

Looks exactly like an Arduinome. Cool stuff.

  5. Jakub says:

I recorded it using Audio Hijack Pro

  6. Soren Eliot says:

    I love this!

  7. Ryan says:

Ok… This is officially my favorite post on this blog

  8. Dave says:

This is awesome… and brings up an interesting subject: Flash. Everyone seems to be talking up HTML5, but I’m pretty sure even if you can do this in HTML5 (which I don’t think you can) it would be way harder. Long live Flash.

  9. Ryan says:

Highly excellent. Follow the link, awesome videos there too.

  10. chris says:

do you want me to be unproductive at work?

  11. Jakub says:

@Chris muahahahaha thats our mission statement at ISO50 “making you unproductive at work since …whenever Scott started this site”

also new goal, comments beating out the “likes”

  12. donewithcaps says:

sounds just like Norman Fairbanks – 7 Days Microsleep. an album with the tenori-on as the only instrument.

  13. sawa says:

  19. peter says:

    It started all here: http://www.audiotool.com/

  20. Jรถrg says:

yes, it was developed a while ago (like, two years?) by Andrรฉ Michelle, who also built the amazing AudioTool.

This is fun. You should run a music contest though! That’s what I thought this was.

  23. thomas says:

    14 steps instead of 16? sure? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. Kirk says:

I haven’t seen this for a while, always get hooked when i do though. The trick is to get multiple going on different tabs, then it starts getting complex

  25. donewithcaps says:

    yeah tenori-on ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. donewithcaps says:

also reminds me of I Am Robot and Proud

  27. Little Mega says:

This is my ticket to electronic stardom! But my roommates obviously don’t appreciate my genius…

  28. Mogalike says:

This is too much! You’re brilliant Scott. Like you all the way!

  29. Isn’t this Melodica? I have this app on my iPod ๐Ÿ˜€

  30. Andrew says:

I love this! I wish there was a way to take a snapshot of what you create and share it.

  31. Jakub says:

    @Andrew Command+Shift+4

  32. amazing! addictive! refreshing! (and matches the rain outside perfectly…hmm.)

  33. Chip Hultin says:

    Yeah! Daedelus steeze

  34. I’ve played with it in several platforms… web, iphone… love it. I had to play and record it since you did it, but I’m afraid I overdid it and ended up layering some instruments over and turned it into a whole song… which defeats the minimalist purpose… but it’s here, just have to click on my name. ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. Matt Lundstrom says:

You really should be linking to the original. Andre’s site is full of Flash audio toys.

  36. Danielle says:

    this is DOPE!

  37. Kyle says:

Yep, this was done a while back by Andre Michelle, an absolute wizard with Flash & audio tools. This unfortunately looks like an uncredited ripoff of his original ๐Ÿ™

  38. Jasmin says:

    this is great! lov

  39. Vale says:

tried a gadget like this live once, it was fun.

  40. Steve says:

That’s pretty sweet. I’m so musically lacking but this is actually pretty fun.

  41. Ryan says:

    [side note]
If you are susceptible to photosensitive epileptic shock, I would not suggest attempting to light up all the boxes… it does get pretty intense.

Probably not a good idea for regular people either – like staring into the sun

  42. Spencer says:

Great. Now i cant do my homework

    ๐Ÿ˜€

  43. NAVIS says:

I have an app like this for my iPod Touch and it was fun to play while sitting in Mongolia somewhere. Yay for efficient time wasters!

  44. Jonny says:

AMAZING. I swear I’ve seen this online somewhere before, but now I know exactly where to find it ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks Jakub

  46. SirStirup says:

I’ve always wanted to find out what sound Space Invaders would make.

  47. Bramus! says:

Reminds me of TonePad, an iPhone app which does the same.

  48. Adam says:

Nice, this is like a digital version of a Bliptronic 5000

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/musical-instruments/c4e1/

  49. Marcos says:

It’s fantastic! I liked very much!

  50. Brad Conrad says:

Fun. It’s interesting how there are only 14 steps but it “waits” the length of 2 steps so it ends up being 4/4 time.

  51. Simon says:

    @Brad Conrad

That’s because there ARE 16 steps, it’s just that ISO50 crops the frame so that they’re hidden. Click through the link to have them all visible.

Anyway, as others have said, here’s the original: http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix
    Don’t support ripoffs.

  52. golukas says:

clap! clap!, thanks a lot Jakub, genius stuff : )
So, how exactly can i get the record about.
And someone said there is an app of this for the iPhone, wich is that?
    Sorry the english hehe.
    Cheers!!

  53. mg33 says:

OK, Pretty much badass. Never seen anything like this. The actual tones being used here are PERFECT. It’s soothing, smooth, and anyone who makes electronic could incorporate this in so many ways. Really really awesome.

  54. austen says:

    google: tenorion

  55. Vaughn says:

    THIS IS AWESOME!

  56. This is so much fun.

There are a few squares not visible in the post though.

  57. bonehead says:

hold down ctl-opt-cmd and click on a square.

  58. Olivier says:

    good fun.

Beatwave is the free app that’s pretty darn fun for sounds like this (for those that are asking) got a few more sounds/controls (reverb!) to play with too ๐Ÿ™‚
