The new Com Truise EP “Wave 1” is out today, stream it above.
Wave 1 is the first new transmission the world has received from producer Seth Haley since his gloriously futuristic debut album Galactic Melt. That album cataloged the genesis and evolution of Haley’s alter ego Com Truise — the world’s first synthetic/robotic astronaut, as Haley described him — and this EP continues the character’s journey into the outer reaches of the musical multiverse. In the process, it also builds on Haley’s signature production style, one that’s rooted in classic sci-fi sounds and analogue textures but nevertheless manages to sound utterly contemporary.

I saw Seth in Detroit last week with his new set up. I highly recommend seeing him as he has added an interesting visual element to his show. Also worth mentioning, he sounded amazing. I felt like I had entered the future as imagined in 1984…only better.
Did the show at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, Va get cancelled?

Com Truise rules. Well, he doesn’t rule as highly as BOC, but he’s pretty darn close in my book!
Saw him here in St Louis. What a great show and a really great guy. Ended up talking to him in the crowd for almost a half an hour with another buddy. Just a class act and a hell of a musician. I can’t wait for him to come back already.
well i have to say i have been crackin’ this at work since it was posted and overall i dig a few of the tunes but i also realized there is something i couldn’t put my finger on with alot of his recent output and that is his tendency for extremely tight, perfectly quantized, high-speed micro-edited passages…i realize this is part of the com oeuvre, but for me this is my 1 gripe..it’s TOO perfectly sequenced and computery. for some i’m sure this is a total orgazm of audio technicality but for me this is veering into the territory aphex mined at the height of his snare-rush wankery.
to clarify, i am not hating on com. and when i say veering into aphex snare-rush wankery i’m saying that those passages feel more like an exercise in self-indulgent technical prowess than an exercise is musicality.
